Hey Ed001, hope you've been well mate.
I read on the banter page that you expect the club to do a deal to sign Robertson for the left back position.
Although I'd have to agree with most and would much prefer a higher profile left back arrive, I also haven't watched enough of him to judge if he would be indeed a good pick up for the club.
Can you give us a quick rundown of what you have seen of him? What you think he could be good and bad at? Thanks mate.

{Ed001's Note - he has a good left peg, but he tends to struggle when put under pressure. While he can deliver a good cross, if given time and space, every time I have seen him put under pressure on the ball he shanks it or hits the first man. It is the same defensively, he seems to panic a bit if he has to think about what he is doing. His positional sense is not too good either. He is a step up from Milner, in that he offers a left footed crossing option, which is badly needed. He is still young enough to improve, but I am far from convinced he is any more than a short term fill in until we can find a better option. Unless the coaching staff can work some magic on him, in which case he could grow into being what we need.}

Thanks for the detailed reply, mate.
I'm thinking it could also be a very realistic option too considering Hull got relegated. If you were to have your choice on who the club would bring in for left back, I'm guessing it would be Mendy?

{Ed001's Note - my first choice would probably be Gaya to be honest.}

You'd hope beyond hope it's a stopgap solution to give Juanma time to grow.

Personally my first choice would not be Gaya. Don't get me wrong Ed001, I just think sexual preference really shouldn't come in to it.

Gaya is a very good shout.

I agree on Gaya, Ed, However, he is just as suspect defensively BUT awesome going forward and a much better LB than Robertson. Just having a left foot doe no good LB make. Would that defensive issue with Gaya not be a problem, as well?

{Ed001's Note - yep, but there are so few good defenders these days, it is a dying art.}
