Ed01 a question to distract you from the bombardment of VVD and Keita questions if you have the time

I was interested to hear your opinion on Divock Origi and how you think he could develop, I remember he was in fine form towards the end of last season and when he plays he seems to score but he never seems to be able to get a consistent run in the side.

Many thanks.

{Ed001's Note - personally I like him, he has excellent technical ability, as well as physical power, strength and pace. However he needs the experience and direction to use his skills effectively. That takes time to acquire and he is nowhere near his peak yet.

He does need to get regular starts if he is to really progress. He also needs to ensure he takes a leaf out of Harry Kane's book and redoubles his efforts to improve once he does get that run of games. That is what will make the difference for him now, his attitude and application to learning the game.}

Would he be able to get that run of games though Ed, as no doubt Firmino is 1st and then possibly Sturridge 2nd choice if he stays?

{Ed001's Note - that is up to him, he has to earn the right on the training pitch and then on the actual pitch when he does get his shot.}

I liked origi when he came first he looked promising but he has never really pushed on, I think we should sell him and develop solanke instead.

So because origi hasn't become a 30 goal a season striker in 1 year we should sell him? Honestly what even are our fans nowadays.

I think origi is quite similar to kane with a bit more speed, in that he never really influences the game that much, but he does provide a focal point and does score goals with ease. He just needs to hone his abilities to create more chances for himself.

You see, Wobsoborth, that is the kind of post that is not helpful to any LFC player. So cos he has not become Harry Kane, he needs to be sold? Whatever happened to allowing a young player to develop and hone his trade then make a judgement on his ability. Origi is everything you want in a CF as the Ed said. He has the tools of a Didier Drogba as well as the the skill, footwork, technical ability and as well as dribbling skills as a Henry. He is very talented. I did not say that, Henry said it. Harry Kane is not as talented and multi-faceted as Origi is. Kane has gotten his chances and had nobody in front of him to battle for the CF position. Origi has Firmino and prolly Studge to deal with. He just needs to put everything together and make his mark on the club. It is up to him now. He will get his chances next season and there, he will have to come good.
