Afternoon all, Ed001 I've just been reading the posts and read your reply about VVD letting Southampton know he wants out. Can I just ask if that's is a written or verbal transfer request or is it just the fact he said he would be willing to join Liverpool?

Looks like Southampton will have to sell him then even if it's not to us. No one wants an unhappy player at there club.

{Ed001's Note - they did not sell Fonte last summer after he asked for a transfer. Many clubs have held on to unhappy players.}

Coz he has pretty much asked for a transfer ed, does that means he wavers his 5% of money from any potential deal? Or am I wrong on that?

I suppose the buying club would pick up that bill as well to help the deal. Added onto the sighing on fee?

If a player hands in a written transfer request, does the home club still have the option to deny any attempts to sign the player and hang onto him (assuming they want to? ) . just trying to figure out if it means anything other than confirming they definitely want to go and they are prepared to forego any signing on fee?

Ed is right and Saints are notorious for keeping their players against their will. Just ask Fonte, Schneiderlein, Wanyama and a certain Sadio Mane who were kept for one more season regardless of submitting transfer requests. They were actually allowed to leave the season after tho, which may eventually be what happens with VVD.
