I've been told on here before what a great guy John Aldridge is, and I don't doubt it. I have though made a few comments over the years concerning statements that seem so obvious I don't know why anyone bothers reporting them, such as "we need a top drawer goal scorer" etc.
Now though, it seems he's advising VVD to go on strike to force a Liverpool move. If there's any chance of this deal progressing, surely John is not helping matters in regard to our relations with Southampton?

I agree with you, BB, but unfortunately we can't stop people spouting (just look at these boards! ) . Unfortunately some people who spout are famous and papers pick up on what they say.

What is without doubt is that Aldo is passionate about our club. I just wish he'd keep his trap shut now and again!

Truth of the matter is some footballers are just not intelligent enough to think before they pontificate.

Yeah, fair enough I suppose, just can't help but roll my eyes. That said, who the bloody hell am I?

Vvd has already stuck in a transfer request anyway . Shouldn't be long till we see the vvd lean.

Source for VVD's transfer request?

Heard similar reports of VVD going down this path. Either way it leaves us in a bad position following the tapping up situation. We will either be forced to pay an astronomical amount or be seen to leave him languishing at he club he doesn't want to remain at. Whilst I doubt it will happen, I think we should pay whatever Southampton want for him, even if it our entire summer budget and learn a harsh lesson that could have easily been avoidable through applying a little proffessionalism.

I honestly think that this has all been worked out beforehand between the player and the 2 clubs.

As Southampton are in talks regarding a takeover and possible change of ownership things have to be seen to be done correctly.

When the news broke and the s%@t hit the fan, they went into damsge limitation mode, us ending interest and the SAINTS the injured party to placate the fans and the authorities, as it may have scuppered any further takeover talks.

Anyway I hope we sign him as it is one of the weakspots in our team.

I would love to know what Aldo's take on the precious sterling and Suarez saga's were. What's good for the goose is good for the gander and I very much doubt he suggested either of them should go on strike, in fact I suspect he was fuming with the both of them.

Isn't Aldridge an employee of the club? If he is, it's absolutely f***ing stupid that he said that, Southampton's feelings towards Liverpool are already bad enough.
