I think most agree that left back is the main area we should improve, but I can't remember in my life time us having a complete player in that position, most I remember we're good going forward but rubbish defending, even going back as far as Alan Kennedy? Only one that sticks out was Steve Nicol, but he could play anywhere. Another point, when we were linked with Bertrand last time out he was slated as not being good enough, has he improved that much?

Bertrand was always good enough but many said he didn't fit the bill for Liverpool, as in he looked good defensively but lacked going forward.

He has improved his attacking game and is still strong defensively.

The only issue for me is that Southampton play a very different style meaning that their full backs are protected a lot more than ours.

As we have seen with Clyne, when exposed he is not good (also going forward he is not good but that's a different story), Bertrand may well have a similar issue in that when he is exposed a bit more he doesn't perform as well. That being said I think he would be a big improvement on Milner and Moreno.

However, for me the best LB for us would be Jonas Hector. Very solid defensively, big and quite quick and good on the ball.

He's not going to excel going forward but do we really need excellent attacking full backs with the fire power we have up front?

In short yes, we are very much set up to score more opposed to 1-0 wins we will concede it's a given in how we play. Most teams only score against us on the counter we need attacking players as more wing backs that can cross and provide width in our attacks that we lack, even with salah added all of our attackers like to bring the ball inside so we end up predictable. We lost a lot of plays by milly cutting inside or clyne giving up he ball away. When teams let us have 70-80% possession we need to make the most of it, I also feel this is why vid would of been a perfect fit for cb.

I don't get all the stick Milly and Clyne get. Good players. I think Clyne is much better defensively then he is going forward, and he's not the worst going forward, not the best either 😂 but can do a good job.

Hopefully TAA can step in at RB in a season or two anyway.

Not seen much of Mendy but the way everyone goes on he must be the dogs bollox, but I wouldn't be unhappy if we had Milly there next season.

Centre back should be the priority in my opinion, thoughts of Klavan, Lucas and Gomez as back up for the season brings me to tears.

At least Salah looks like it's finally happening, credit where credit is due, the club potentially pulling off a great transfer and not being held to random over a price, bodes well!

Outscore is once again our motto next season. No surprise. Forget the balance we will score in abundance! Klopp anyhow is poor organizing the defense!

I thought Riise was pretty well rounded as a left back. Certainly he'd walk into the current team.

Rob Jones didn't do a bad job when he played there.

Riise and Aurielo were decent left backs for us to be fair. Really need to sort this position out this summer no doubt.

I always thought that Aurelio was a decent left back and if injuries hadn't prevented him getting a long run in the team he would've been much more highly rated.

Aurelio was a decent lb whenever fit, risse was great going forward but was so severely single footed that i have only seen him using his right leg just for standing, moreover Rafa set uo the team in such a way that FB got a lot of protection through the DM. Kloops team s set totally different, in case of Clyne he will get into a good position atleast 20 times a game but will either loose the ball or cross it with his eyes closed. He is not that defender who will put the ball in a dangerous position. The best RB o have seen in the last few years is sergio aurier.

Have we all forgot about Steve Finnan the quiet man?
