I know the interest in mendy exists. I just can't help but think if we are going to spend big on a LB would we not be better throwing that crazy money at celtic for tierney?

What makes you prefer Tierney?
I like the look of both players to be honest but Mendy is a big unit.

Given how strong an interest we had last summer in Ben Chilwell, I'm surprised it hasn't been revived this year. I'd assume he would have improved and matured a bit after experience of a full EPL season and UCL campaign? Unless something has happened that I'm not aware of (question to Ed001 and everyone else)?

Chilwell is poorer than Moreno defensively hence, Klopp was right to not sign him esp. for the amount (10m) they were asking for.

Agree with the OP. Tierney can defend and attack. Mendy is basically an auxiliary winger!

Tierney would be a good addition for anyone looking for a LB with tons of potential but also good enough to do a job at the moment. His value is only going to keep rising once he does move to a higher league (similiar to Wanyama/ VVD etc) . Has international experience, champs league, 1st team etc so for me represents a better transfer target than recent youngsters of Chilwell etc. Personally think he will not move this season but if possible to do a deal it would be far better value as his wages would be nowhere near Mendy's or the transfer fee and would be an improvement on the position for us.
