Aubameyang. Don't really understand that one. Super similar style as Sturridge imo. Except the injuries.

And the fact he has banged in 30+ goals regularly, has worked very effectively as part of Klopp's gegenpressing style and is one of the top 3 in the world in his position?

I am a big fan of Sturridge, don't get me wrong, and he is the most talented striker we have in our team currently. But Aubameyang is in a totally different class. They may be similar, but one is better than the other.

Auba is looking for a big pay day as the PSG deal went to crap. That is why his agents are sounding off LFC as a possible destination due to the obvious link with Klopp, all while forgetting that Klopp has already said that he won't target BVB players (which he has not done since he arrived) . First off, we won't pay the wages he wants. Second, do we need him? NO as scoring goals is not the issue with us. Moral of the story? Don't get your hopes up, lads cos it ain't going to happen.

We won't get him. Can dream but PSG, Real and City will be in the running before us.

I also think it is more important to sure up that defence this year.

I'd love to have your connections, Brussels Red. You must be so ITK to have your finger in so many major football team pies.

Or are you choosing to believe the other regurgitated crap that I'm believing?!

Its all bs and conjecture!

However, I do disagree with the "scoring goals is not the issue for us". Most successful people agree that 100% improvement is much more sensible to achieve by improving 100 things by 1%, not 1 thing by 100%. We should always be looking to improve every single position in our first team every window, and if a option comes up that does that, why wouldn't we?!

Couldnt have said it better, Brussels.

I agree with you Zeddicus.

I am pretty sure United aren't short on left wing what with Young, Martial, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Mata and Rashford all capable of playing there.

Does anybody here seriously believe they will turn down Ronaldo though with the feeble excuse of "yeah but we need a right back because Valencia is out of position". This is why United win trophies and we don't, simply put. For years we have bought 7 or 8 squad fillers, instead of gunning for a world class player and a few squad fillers. You want the title that has to change.

It is probably media junk anyway, but the point is that if he is available and we are not in the running, that is astonishing.

PSG has ruled themselves out while Real is signing Mbappe. City remains a threat but then we wiped them off for VVD. Didn't we?

Worth bearing in mind that City have Aguero and Jesus, would they be in the running?

Zed, I'm no ITK. I'm just someone with enough knowledge of transfer dealings to be able to form an opinion by observing the goins-on reported with a transfer that is this big. Auba was all set for PSG and that deal fell through. Now he is being touted in . China. If that is true, no man nor his dog believes he's going there to win the CL. Hence, he is looking for a big pay day. Remember, this is the guy who kept saying that he would only leave BVB for Real.

Now that that deal won't happen and PSG pulled the plug, it is normal for the media thru his agents to sound off other suitors hence, the sounding off of LFC even tho, no ED has ever said we were interested. Don't need to be a rocket scientist to form that opinion. You just need to follow the money trail. Even you can do that.

As for the our striking options, I feel we can improve the players who are already here by helping Firmino improve his output in front of goal, help Studge stay fit if he is staying and add more goalscorers to the team which is what the Salah deal will do if it happens. Why do I think that? Cos since Klopp arrived, LFC is top 3 in goals scored, chances created, and shots on target, all accomplished without a so called "goalscorer" to rely on. So why spend 60m on an area we are not lacking in while we have more important holes to fill in the squad like the FB positions and adding more quality depth to the squad?

No team has won the title with a poor defence. Period.

Salah-Aubameyang-Mane is clearly better than Salah-Firmino-Mane. And I don't quite agree that Sturridge should be keeping us from buying Aubameyang. Aside from the fact that they are both 27 and score goals (strikers do that, don't they? ), I don't see the similarity in their games. Sturridge is your (almost) classic striker, hanging around the penalty box for interplay and scoring opportunities. He's lost a lot of his acceleration. Aubameyang is your simple pure runner. He'll blast by defenders one on one, head for goal and neatly slot the ball past the GK. You can use the same traits to describe the differences between Firmino and Aubameyang.

Coutinho deep in the midfield pinging passes to Salah, Aubameyang or Mane would make us one of Europe's most dangerous attacks. But as has been said, it's too quiet on the defensive front with rumours, and I hope we sort out those problems too.

Oh wait. The AFCON is in 2019. Let's just forget about all this Aubameyang nonsense.
