Trying to put the VVD saga behind me, the interest in VVD shows that Liverpool are looking to bring in a CB. I have seen many people say VVD was not worth the money and have even seen posts saying we could get a better player for half the price while others have said that the likes of Dann, Yoshida, Collins are better player than VVD which I think is laughable.

So who are the players we could look to as an alternative to VVD? I have heard the following names mentioned but I am not sure if there is any real interest in any of them: Koulibaly, Keane and Gibson.

The Premier league is not the only existence for CB's.

Stefan de Vrij will probably cost a third of what VVD now will. de Vrij will also not be on some ridiculous pay packet either.

It is the job of our scouts to find the right players and for the club to act responsibly in the market, financially and with respect to other clubs. Liverpool have no clue on how to do any of this.

Liverpool making VVD the most expensive and probably the highest paid CB in world football ever is being responsible, right? Southampton are waiting and will laugh all the way to the bank for many years to come.

Fans are not scouts. Our scouts need to start doing their jobs.

Quite a few names out there who I'd like. Manolas, Koulibaly, Davison Sanchez, Varane, Gimenez, Tah.

De Vrij is physically weak and would get battered in the premier league, he's not the quickest and has had serious injury problems.
Manolas and is unlikely as Roma neither need or want to sell and he's got a rep for red cards.
Davison Sanchez is an accident waiting to happen, not a good defender at all (taking it you've watched the UEFA cup final? ) .
Varane, not going to happen. Why leave Real for Liverpool when Pepe is leaving.
Jimenez isn't what you'd call a dominant centre half, which is what we need.
Tah, has largely been found out this season for being rather lumpen, he's a big unit, but poor on the ball, poor distribution and hasn't really got lightning pace to make up for his lapses of concentration.

Joe Gomez - has premier league experience and available for free.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Bournemouth remain keen.}
