Ed1, can I ask your opinion on what you see as the way forward now for the rest of the summer?

If you were in charge of transfers would you leave both VVD and Salah, apologise and move on?

{Ed001's Note - no way. We have to make things right for the players and the clubs or we will struggle to attract players in the future. That has to be the priority, doing what it take to put things right with Southampton and Roma.}

Ed001 do you think that the best possible action for us is to back our apology up with cash, negotiate a price for both, pay up, take the players and apologize again then leave matters alone. Prove our apology by doing things correctly in future. Not that I think this will at all happen. We don't seem to have any honour anymore.

{Ed001's Note - yes that seems the best course of action now.}

Do you think that's what we will do then Ed?

Thanks for all your replies Ed. You ed2 and ed25 have the patience of saints (no pun intended) putting up with us lot!

{Ed001's Note - to be honest I can't see us doing that for both players, no. I think the cost would be just way too much to do so.}

We would lose all credibility within the footballing fraternity if we left players high and dry. We all know transfers can be long, protracted and complex, sometimes. If we're seen as a club that will pull out because things get hot or we don't know to conduct them, few teams/ players would want to risk starting negotiations or take them seriously. I think the only way out is for LFC to find the ways for both players to end up in LFC shirts without swallowing too high of a financial penalty/ pill. I don't know if it's possible. Both incidents will be classed as "ugly" transfers but we've all seen enough of those and they get brushed aside, in time. What doesn't get forgotten is players getting hung out to dry or a club's incompetence in carrying out an essential aspect of its activity - transfers.

So we'll be missing out on vvd then probably? Especially if the £70m touted by ed2 (I think) is what they want.

{Ed001's Note - nothing is certain yet mate. Saints might be willing to accept different terms knowing that VVD wants out.}
