I might be in the minority, but I'm happy that we've ended our interest in VVD. The price given by soton was just short of day light robbery. VVD is a good defender, but he was also prone to errors and was in no way worth what was being asked for. Also, it looks like we've ended out interest in Salah. Again, not really that worried. Yes, he had a good season last year but he had previously failed to settle down in england, plays mainly on the right for which we have mane. And may be it's just me but I don't remember us having one good signing from the italian league. Now I hope, this forces our hand and we go back in for brandt, our first target or may be turn our attention to douglas costa, whom I really rate.

{Ed001's Note - Coutinho came from the Italian league.}

Oh! Yes. Sorry about that. All I remember about our italian imports are dosenna, aquilani and mario balotelli!

{Ed001's Note - it is pointless to judge a player by where they came from, every player is an individual and needs to be judged on their own merits.}

I agree but I was just mentioning that our track record when it comes to signings from the italian league is not very good. But even ignoring the above, I would still prefer Brandt or if possible douglas costa over Salah.

Yes Shayan, my thought exactly.
Think we can get 1 each of lb and rb and pay them $100k a week for £60m.
Might be more but that's 2 critical position sorted out . No?

I just can't see it happening, we've low balled them already and messed them and the player around. Then you have the context of the whole VVD saga and most clubs would reasonably tell us to sling our hooks.
