Just to take away from the transfers for a bit. What is the opinion now of Rodgers qualities as a manager following Celtics invincible treble season. He became a bit of a joke here towards the end of his time and everyone wanted rid.
SPL maybe a dire league, but this hasn't been done and he still had to motivate to continue the run when there was no need (as in title bagged etc) .

Just wondered if eds and people have changed their opinion on him, whether he has gained respect or not.

{Ed007's Note - After years of reading all you guys slating Rodgers I wasn't overly excited when we appointed him but he has the whole place buzzing, winning trophies and playing good football AND finally we have a manager that the board are listening to and backing. He seems to think before opening his mouth now and has reigned in his ego too which can only be a good thing.
I know you all look down your nose at Scottish football but to win a treble without losing a game is some achievement in any league imo.}

In short not really, when he was brought in I felt a real sense of pride having a norn irish manager in charge, that quickly went when the sun beds and whitened teeth appeared. I think once he'd got the job he felt like he'd made it, never a good thing.

I would agree ed. I go to some Celtic games because my dad is a huge fan and originally from Glasgow and the whole mood has changed. I personally feel that the Scottish league is very poor but as you said to not lose a domestic game throughout a whole season is a brilliant acheivement, whether that is La liga, Premier league or Sunday League and he deserves credit for what he has achieved. Although I am not a Rodgers fan I any sense, I can put my opinion of him to the side and say he's done a fantastic job up there.

Ambivalent, outside of our almost season he wasn't very good for us and winning the Scottish league in a one horse race is nothing to shout about. I do think he's notched Celtic up a level, but he's a good coach, I'd wager most of the lower-mid table managers would do similar things with Celtic because they're good coaches.

Can't fault what he's doing up there but I still think he's several steps below the top managers, notwithstanding his interviews or press conferences. If Chelsea, City, Utd, Spurs or Arsenal got him as manager I really wouldn't be worried.

{Ed025's Note - the secretary,s husbands might be though imred.. :)

You're right 007. His achievements this past season is nothing to be sniffed at. I think he is achieving his potential that warranted his LFC appointment.

Ed007, credit where credit is due but it is not like anyone in the SPL is going to overthrow Celtic irrespective of who their manager is.

Rodgers comes back to the EPL and it is business as usual.

Martin O'Neill won the treble at Celtic and i think did ok in the CL before moving on. Would you have taken him at Liverpool Max Renn?

{Ed001's Note - O'Neill did it with some opposition to face as well, unlike Rodgers, who has absolutely nothing to beat but complacency. If he had progressed in Europe, then he would have achieved something worthwhile. Otherwise, all he has done is make his team concentrate for a full season.}
