Hi Eds,

You have said Robertson appears to be the most likely to come in at LB. My question is do you know if he's seen as being our new starting LB or a replacement to Moreno? If he's a replacement for Moreno, does that mean we're sticking with Milner at LB, or will we be looking for another LB on top of Robertson, or do they want to bring Pereira in as a LB instead of RB? I don't know much about the guy, do you know what the scouts have identified with him that have made them want to bring him on board?

Ta.

{Ed001's Note - we are not buying a back up. Scouts see a left footed fullback who loves to get forward and can deliver quality crosses with his left.}

If robertson is the leftback of choice then you have to wonder what are scouts actually see. He didn't have the best of seasons and his attacking play left a lot to be desired. The saving grace is that hopefully he has an excellent attitude To improve himself, because his level this season won't suffice if we want to challenge at the top.

Have you seen him play before, Ed?

{Ed001's Note - Robertson? Yes, many times mate. Or do you mean Pereira? If so, I have only seen Pereira once.}

How do we go from Mendy to Robertson?

We always have a clear number one target then there is a distinct difference in quality to our back up choices.

I wouldn't be disapointed with Robertson tbh, he is decent going foward and can certainly improve. We should learn from missing out on the likes of Cresswell and Ryan Bertrand, who at the time were not up to our quality, but have improved massively since then.

Just remember we all said the same about moreno.

The art of defending isn't as easy to learn as yoy think.

Kawa I get where you are coming from but we are about to go into a huge season with champions league. We need players that will improve the first team NOW.

There are plenty of left left backs in Europe. We should look at an experienced one.

Bertrand for one would be a brilliant signing for the next 3-4 seasons. Has played in a UCL final and kept a bunch of world class attackers at bay while being the most consistent LB in the league since joining Saints. 20 million should tempt Saints imo instead of wasting 7-8 million on Robertson now and looking for another LB next season.

We should just go all out for betrand. End of the day he's a champipns league winner. Great player and would certaintly sort our lb issue. Rovertson still has question marks.

Yeah Robertson. You like what you saw, Ed?

{Ed001's Note - meh, not really. Struggles under pressure, panics easily, can deliver if given time and space, but not the best defensively.}

Buzzer,

If Bertrand is as good as you say he is (which I'm not debating), what makes you think we could get him for 20mil?

On top of that, the year we were linked with Bertrand, he was massively slated on this site as "not good enough". what makes people so certain that Robertson can't do the same? Don't give me any crap him simply not being good enough because that's the same stance people had on bertrand 3-4 years ago.

again I'm not saying Robertson will turn out to be as good, I'm just saying that hindsight is a wonderful thing and based on the bertrand situation, should at least be given a chance and not instantly written off.

I'm pretty certain that the reason people aren't keen on him is because he plays for hull and Ed1 hasn't given him a ringing endorsement. I guarantee people slating him haven't seen enough of him to truly make that judgement.
