When was the last time Liverpool signed a world class player? Do we think Torres? I think when we signed Suarez he wasn't known as world class and same goes for Coutinho. Eds do you think we can genuinely attract a player classed as world class anymore, say top 20 in the world?

{Ed025's Note - of course gayfish, iit makes me sick but liverpool are still one of the biggest draws in the world for players because of their history mate.. :)

Torres was far from world class when we bought him.

He was struggling to score more than 12 goals a season at athletico.

Liverpool have very rarely signed world class talent, a phrase used way too loosely. In my opinion we give the players the stage and make them into top talent. Torres certainly wasnt world class before he came and i think the same applies to Alonso and Suarez.

I would be shocked if we could attract somebody in the top 20.
Torres was probably the biggest name we have signed in the last 10 years but was coming off a couple of slow seasons.

People commenting really don't remember Suarez goals to games at previous club? He was a beast.

{Ed025's Note - in more ways than one benny..

Being a beast in the Dutch league is easy look how awful Ajax were in that final. Even dirk kuyt looked like a world beater and he's been past it for 4 years.

He was no way classed as 'world class'. No offence to the Uruaguay and Dutch leagues but he had to prove himself in a top league first.
So many players have scored at a similar rate to Suarez in the Dutch league and been complete flops over here.

87 red, it says 214 appearances and 87 goals before he joined Liverpool.

What's all that about then?

That's some goalscoring record that.

I'm just putting this out there, but I am pretty sure we signed Jose Enrique quite recently. The guy was an insta legend the second he walked through the door. An absolute tweet to have watched him play. Forget MSN at Barcelona. Boring. Enrique is the future. A Messenger from the gods. He always knows whatsapp'ning in a game before the opposition even know what they are going to do. Its like he can just look them in the Face, book them a flight, and send them packing so far into obscurity they have to develop a new Outlook on life just to stay in touch with reality.

Cannot believe how unfairly overlooked he is in discussions like this.

Davey

A goal every 2.5 games is certainly not world class mate. He was a massive talent when we bought him but no more than that.

We don't buy legends. We make them.

Not sure if he was the most recent but I remember Liverpool signing Jari Litmanen and it being a massive deal.

He had played for Ajax and then Barcelona. Seemingly only being sold because he had lost out to Rivaldo.

Great player as well, one of my favourites for Liverpool, even if it was just for a couple of seasons.
