{Ed025's Note - for me the defence needs an overhaul r+o, i would move milner to right back, buy VVD to partner matip and sign mendy to play left back, midfield is in good shape but ideally a holding midfielder in the kante mould would be good to replace lucas, up front you really need a slotter who can convert the chances that couts, lallana and firmino can provide, griezmann would be ideal but he looks bound for old trafford but dembele is doing really well at celtic and maybe worth a punt then you are sorted mate.. :)

Kante really isn't a holding midfielder. He is a complete midfielder.

In sounding out the defence for overhaul, do you include the GK in that, ed?
I believe GK is the most critical position in the team, and a position in which we aren't up to scratch regardless of Mignolet's slight upturn in form.

Milner should be a handy utility player next season. Specialist RB for me like Periera is much better with Bertrand (preferably) on the other side. Agree that we need a new Cb but not VVD (too lazy and loses concentration often) . Winger is a bigger priority than a striker.

I tend to agree with benny about kante he can actually run with the ball and spot a pass or through ball esp when he was playing for Leicester. He is playing slightly differently for chelsea but that's not to say he can't do it all. Out of all our reported targets the one that excites me the most is keita, he too can do it all and he is a scorer too. Hope we don't mess about and just get him in the bag cause he can make us real challengers.

If we got a lw who adds a lot of goals then a striker isn't as urgent. If we sign an 8 and 8 then a more clinical striker is needed as well.

Ed025 hi mate re defence you say sign vvd? Most on here led by ed01 seem to think he's a very good player but goes missing out of posistion etc. But you think hed be ok? Mendy haven't seen much of him but lots rate him. Thanks.

{Ed025's Note - even eds have different views on things stevie, i think VVD is a very good player and i have seen him be a bit positionally naive at times but i have also seen koulibaly and pique make mistakes, you will be looking for a long time to find a CH that makes no mistakes and for me his good points far outweigh his weakness,s mate, mendy would be a very good buy for liverpool and if milner plays at right back for a season or 2 it wpould improve your defence no end..

I make you right on that. If we get Brandt its all very similar. Most of them would get around 10 goals each but someone like Harry Kane would get 40 goals in that side.

I think we should put the money from the proposed Brandt and Luan and sign the best we can get.

What formation would that be ed? Like a 4-2-3-1? I'm trying to envision a side with Lallana, Countinho, Mane, Firmino and a striker. I'd be pretty happy if we signed Dembele to be honest.

It's a good call Ed - Convert Milner to RB, get in a new LB and a striker (or even peferably a LW/ striker) and we're 90% of the way there. I'd be Ok with Can playing deep but Keita is a good shout for someone who will add versatility.

Ed25 thanks for the reply mate. My opinion on vvd is he's worth the good over the bad. Mendy? Lb. Do we need a cdm then? Lw is needed for me and another main striker to put the ball in the net. Thanks for replies and time.

{Ed025's Note - i think if you get a striker there is enough with mane, couts, lallana and firmino who can interchange and play wide if needed, i think that VVD would help immensely stevie mate..
