It's 05:26 am, I'm an insomniac and can't sleep, and was thinking about the Sturridge debate. Half of the posters want him to stay because of his unquestioned abilities. The other half want him to leave because of his injury record. But if injury record is going to be yardstick for judgement, then shouldn't it be the other Danny (Ings) who should be leaving? Ings has played far less than Sturridge for the same reasons (injury) the past two seasons, and to me there is a greater upside keeping Sturridge post injury than there is in keeping Ings post injury. I don't doubt any of the work ethic and efforts Ings has put in coming back each time, but it's indulging in sentimentalism if you want to keep him just for that, over Sturridge who has shown that he can deliver the goods. Yes, it's bad luck Ings had those season ending injuries, but I don't think Sturridge's luck has been any better. I know this will not go down well with a lot of people, but it'd be interesting to read your viewpoints.

Tbh, I don't see either at LFC for the long run so its does not mean much over who deserves to stay and who does not. Klopp's system requires high fitness and stamina levels, and neither Sturridge nor Ings (both unfortunate) will be able to adapt. Sturridge will be gone this summer and Ings the following one.
Talen wise, Sturridge is miles ahead while Ings seems slightly better adept to Klopp's football style. Considering you don't get paid 10 million a year to make such difficult decisions, its best to leave this to the man who does get paid to do so, and not lose sleep over it.

Let's try supporting our players through injuries rather than simply wishing they would leave the club.

Ings has hardly played and sturridge is one of the best players at the club!

Let Klopp decide and let's support anyone at the club particularly through difficulties such as serious injury. Good grief!

Beddoerocks, the situation is that neither are likely to have a future at the club. Rather see it as it is than simply wish for something that is never going to happen. Klopp wants a striker that can put in a 35-40 matches shift next season to challenge on all fronts. Neither Sturridge or Ings will be doing that its kinda obvious they will be allowed to leave if an acceptable offer is made.

Beddoerocks - Nobody is wishing anyone to leave, at least I'm not. I'd be more than happy for both Sturridge and Ings to stay as long as they were fit and contributing to the team. Sturridge has unquestioned, proven skills and Ings is the hard working, industrious type of player that Klopp needs in his system. But the issue is that we have 4 strikers, of whom only 2 regularly make it to the pitch. And with next season looming ahead, there's a need for Klopp to make one or two hard decisions for a capable strike force, next season.
