Hi Eds, do you think LFC are looking at good enough players to compete in the Chanpions League?

{Ed001's Note - yes. To compete.}

If Klopp signs two quality full backs, a top CM, CB and wide playeer, then yes. We will not win it, but can at least give it a decent go.

Indian Buzzer. Our 04/ 05 squad on paper at the beginning of the season was odds on to win it.
Be positive and good things will happen.

Gazza827, that was 13 years ago. Much has changed since then. The likes of Barca, Real, Chelsea, Bayern, City have gotten much stronger since then.

That is rubbish buzzer.

AC Milans team we beat in the final was immense - maldini, Cafu, gattuso, pirlo, crespo, shevchenko.

We also beat juve along the way who have always had top players like nedved etc.

The Chelsea team we beat was also very good. Lamps and terry in their pomp, essien (what a beast he was), drogba in his hay day too, cech.

You must get my point. We didn't exactly have an easy run in.

So what? That UCL run for LFC was a still a miracle. I just do not see this squad (even if we add 4-5 quality players in the summer) challenging at least for the next couple of years. Not to mention some of our top players may want to move on in that time. Klopp not only needs to sign world class players but also keep hold of the ones we already have. Its going to be a big ask. Now, there are a lot more clubs with more pulling power and money than us. Staying competitive in the UCl is much more difficult now.
And we do not have Gerrard or Alonso this time around either.

Stevie G was emmense for us all through the champions league campaign.

Some players are wrongly called this word but he was Awesome.

I don't disagree competing will be tough. Your original post suggested that the strength of teams when we last won wasn't what it is today which I pointed out was false, nothing else.

Do you disagree with that notion?

We may be inconsistent and frustrating but we are certainly good against the best teams in this league, unbeaten in fact. This gives me a glimmer of hope that we can dream for something special again if we qualify. 3 points today would be lovely please boys. 🙏🏻.

Why not win it, was our 2005 squad that great?

The 2005 squad had Carra and Hyppia in defense. The 2017 squad has Lovren, Klavan and an injury prone Matip. And yes, I do believe the competition has increased in the last decade or so.

It also had djimi traore in it! Besides you need to stop talking about our team, the point I argued against is the quality of opposition.

That Chelsea and AC Milan team we played and Juve to a slightly lesser degree was littered with quality. Barcelona are not currently the force they were a few years ago. Athletics now are a similar quality to the Chelsea team of 2005. Real and Bayern aren't better than the AC team we beat in the final.

Be adult about this and accept the point I disagreed with was a false notion.
