Real Madrid?

{Ed001's Note - that is nothing to do with social media popularity. They did buy James for his marketability, but that was because he was the face of a number of campaigns, rather than anything to do with social media. It meant the club could then hook up with Pepsi and a couple of other big companies for sponsorship. It is more similar to the way motor racing teams will often sign drivers because they bring sponsors with them, rather than a social media thing.}

Technically though ed being popular on sociak media will bring them sponsorships. The more people following you on twatter, surely the more your likely to get good sponsorships.

{Ed001's Note - not really been a measure for footballers yet mate. Social media following tends to follow the club they are at or success on the pitch.}

Thanks Edd, I was hoping that would be the answer. I remember in the Brazil vs France final fat Ronaldo played on pain killers and shouldn't have been on the pitch, apparently that was due to sponsor influence. I don't knkw if there is any truth in that though.

{Ed001's Note - there was every bit of truth in it, Nike were picking the Brazil side for years before and after that.}

A footballer on social media is not focussed enough IMO.

You say this, but Manchester United broke the world transfer record for a player who is essentially a meme, all because he has a funny hair do and is classed as a highly rated player on a computer game. God forbid what the prices for freddy adu or cherno samba would be now with the social media hype.

An accountant on Facebook?
Haven't got an opinion on that Jezza, but wouldn't want an accountant of mine on there. (I haven't got an accountant)
