Considering Everton's recent form
I'd have taken 4 points from the Bournemouth and Everton games.
It is slightly worrying threadbare the squad seems.
I'd love to see him try Grujic and Woodburn.
And no more of this back five.
Why Alexander Arnold (good enough to replace mane in the derby) was not brought on instead of Matip I'll never know.
Do you think the wound from 4-3 has not healed and he was desperate to cling onto the lead?

Flidby, that is my issue. Cots had to come off cos he was sick. Can't blame Klopp there. But I just feel putting Matip on that early sent a signal sayin to B'mouth that "We will no longer attack you" and could have sent on TAA for example. BUT I see why Klopp did it cos he wanted to protect the full backs cos Ryan Fraser had just come on and we all know the pace he possesses. I do not fault Klopp's thinking cos I understand it. My problem is that all in all regardless of the changes, players individually HACE to be accountable in critical game situations and Klavan bottled it and did not even challenge King for the goal at the 86th min. Can't blame Klopp for that, can you? We take the point, one more point over City and we move on.

N Red, yes we move on, but first and second place is now gone, Man City have an easy run, these injuries, small quality squad, iffy subs, its now 3rd 4th and 5th place we are fighting for .

Red, I agree that 2nd may be gone cos Spurs are showing no signs of slowing down. But 3rd and 4th are up for grabs. City have an easier run in BUT they still have to play and compete in these games like we do. Also on the bright side, REGARDLESS of all our issues since Jan, we are still 3rd and have gotten 11 from the past 15 points on show. itcould easily have been 15 out of 15 BUT football doesn't always work out that way, does it? . We keep going and focus on us and us alone cos if we win all our games, we will get CL footie. Arsenal have tougher games than us so they won't win all their games and Utd? No chance. It's up to us and us alone, IMO. We go again!

Got to blame Klopp a little.
Ed01 is right. If Matip is fit enough for the bench then he plays.
Doesn't make any sense bringing him on at 60 minutes.
Yes Coutinho was sick but bring someone on who'll be an attacking threat.
The possession stats at 60 minutes for the second half were 80-20 in our favour.
We were in complete control.
By bringing on Matip it showed he doesn't trust Klavan and Lovren.
If that's the case then bring one of them off.
But I love Klopp and he's a breath of fresh air.
He took responsibility which is so rare for managers.
Thank God we haven't got Koeman who was "proud" of Everton's performance at the weekend!
It's just a shame we couldn't see the game out.
Considering how awful we were in January it's a miracle we're in third.
Just imagine if we'd have had an even half decent january?
We'd still be going to 1st.

I couldn't catch the game live, but I too was shocked when I saw Matip on the bench, I'd love to know the thinking there as Ed001 said if he was fit enough for the bench he was fit enough to start.

I haven't seen enough of the game to comment on the tactical tweaks he made to the team.

a good offence is a good defence. when we start relying on just our defence, then its obvious we are just inviting trouble. klavan was a joke.

Wiseryan, Klopp took your own advice and we got exposed and lost this same game 4-3 and Klopp was laughtered for not shutting up shop. he has been shutting up shop ever since and we have goteen wins vs Burnley, Boro, Stoke, Everton, City Arsenal and Spurs. So the one time that it did not work, you are now saying he should have done the same thing he got slaughtered for. Hindsight is pointless here. he tried what had been working and it didn't due to individual errors, that's it. Hopefully, this is an isolated situation and we can improve vs Stoke.

Flidby, It's easy to blame Klopp on the face of it w/ o knowing the thinking and reasons behind the decisions he made, which are more than valid. He is an honorable man so will take responsibility cos he knows how football management works.

I was as shocked as you when Matip first, did not start and second, came on that early. That was until I read his post game comments and tho I don't agree with Matip being the player to come on, I understand the reasons why he picked him to come on (and it had nothing to do with Lovren nor Klavan) . He made a judgement call on Matip not to start and that was a good call. Had Matip started and made a mistake or got injured more, many would be slating Klopp for playing him. See how that works? Damned if you do, damned if you don't. That's the life of a manager.

As Ed said, the change did NOT alter our way of playing as B'mouth didn't have a sniff for 21 mins after Matip came on. It was due to an individual error on Klavan's part that caused the goal. Surely, you can't blame Klopp for this error or is he going to come on the pitch to defend for him? Players have to take responsibility sometimes and be accountable. On we go to Stoke, my friend.

I think Stewart on the bench would have given Klopp an option to bring on a central midfielder. where as he didn't trust anyone on the bench to do a job defensively.

We go again, but its still strange, when winning at home 2 1
having something like 80/ 20 possession that when an attacking player comes off, do you put on a centre half .

Klopps tactics worked. Matip came on obviously our attacking game was not as good then but Bournemouth had no real opportunities. Can't fault them having a throw in, in our half that happens, it was defended quite well by lovren as well but no matter what your tactics if you're big strong cb loses completely where the ball is in the 6 yard box and then gets turned without putting in a tackle then what can you do? You can't account for that as if klavan does his job the ball is cleared we win 2-1 and klopps done a great job.

Spot on, Shanek BUT you know, if hindsight was the requirement for being a genius, there would be no imbeciles in this world.
