If we sign a left back would Milner even get in midfield?

It's hard to see where he'd fit in. He'd probably be the highest paid sub in the league. I do like the guy though. Always gives everything he's got.

No chance, he's on ridiculous wages. I would gladly let him leave this summer.

James Milner on the bench would provide great quality cover
for a number of positions within the team.
This would make the squad / bench of a much higher quality than we are used to seeing at the moment.
Forget his money you are always sure of a performance from
this player and he has to stay also for the experience and guidance he can provide to the younger players coming through.
Marco.

We should use the academy for cover at maximum. Not a misfit just coz you like him.

Milner is approaching the end of his career so he may not like the bench. Also on 150k a week, him being a bench warmer would what we call "Dead Money", as in money that is not working for you. I'd rather we let him go.

All huff and puff for me, he gets away with his lack of quality at left back for me because he has more time to pick passes and decide what he is going to do. If he isn't going to be left back anymore he should move on, im yet to see this 'experience and leadership' he was brought in for.

Milner is a top professional and you don't hear anyone whinging about the expensive subs on other sides benches. just that we don't have anyone of similar quality to bring on.

I see Milner hopefully staying on at LB to compete with Pereira until he's settled in, then offering a versatile to play across almost any position. He was actually quite a useful impact sub in 14-15 with his ability to whip in crosses from RW late in a game winning us a number of important points. Certainly better than Clynes delivery from out wide.

Who's available on free that is better? There are 1 or 2 or more Weaker links than Milner.

Spot on, Dermot. There are a few other holes in this team BUT Milner is not one of them at least, for now.
