IKR Karius needs his chance. Can't go on a few games. He need a more time I think he will end up good. Can't be any worse then mignolet.

Yeah I imagine so.

Karius is the first choice keeper. So logically he should be playing more / ahead of Mignolet. Migs will be moved on in the summer.

16 Feb 2017 16:08:41
Karius was brought in to replace Migs and nothing has changed on that front especially since Karius has shown that he can be very good and Migs has reverted to the one we have all "known and loved" for three years. he will be the starter next season and that hasn't changed and prolly won't.

Karius had his chance and you all whinged and whined for him to be removed after 5 games and for mignolet the great to be reinstated.

It was good to see all the support he got when he got his chance previously. And how karius wasn't criticised in any way by our wonderfully supportive "fans" when he made a few simple mistakes.

Now we have Mignolet back in goal and the very same "fans" are moaning about why karius is not playing?

{Ed002's Note - It is the Liverpool way.}

13 matches left this season. Klopp made a mistake to bring back Mignolet but who knows, it could be the shop window for Mignolet. Karius has not been worse than Mignolet, most definitely been better which is a very good sign.

Karius probably just been told now to sit back and see how much better he can be than Mignolet. Will just increase his hunger. Danny ward should be back next season too.

Right now, I do not think it is a case of Mignolet fighting for his place but one where Klopp knows he made a mistake to bring back Mignolet and now has to stick with his decision otherwise it will just show that Mignolet is redundant if Klopp had to bring back Karius. Klopp now has to show 'faith' in Mignolet and perhaps the chance of seeing him improve just enough to then see a chance of getting rid of him. If that does not work out then Karius just takes Mignolet's place next season and Mignolet enjoys life on the bench which then sees Mignolet getting frustrated and then calls it quits and makes his own plan to find another club. Mignolet is in the driving seat when it comes to his wages though. LFC might just have to take a massive knock when Mignolet does eventually leave.

Karius got his chance but he made Migs look good. That is no mean achievement.

If possible we should get Oblak from AM or atleast their goal keeping coach/ scout because they have been producing the best goal keepers from time to time. DDG, TC, Oblak and Moya (not so sure) .

Cheers.

The sad fact is that both Karius and Migs have been pretty average this season. Flip a coin on who should be playing in goal.

{Ed002's Note - Being trashed by the fans will certainly get to the players.}

Some players would wallow in self-indulgent multi-millionaire pity.
Some players react to criticism by working harder in training and improving their game.

Annie, Karius has been here for ten games so we don't know what he will become if he doesn't get a fair crack whereas Migs is a known quantity, a known failure and this is his 4the season here. And expecting Karius to be Buffon or Oblak or whoever right now is pointless and unrealistic. If you don't give players a fair chance, you don't deserve to get the players you want them to be so Klopp will give him his chance next season. However, It was great to see that some of our "fans" were there to "support" Karius when he was struggling. Awesome!

Ive never trashed our players but i will criticise performances if i think its justified. While Karius was in the first team i constantly made the point that he hadnt shown anything to suggest he's an improvement on Migs. That still stands so flip a coin on the better keeper. They have both performed at a level below which we should expect as a top PL team. If they don't have the personality to accept and learn from their mistakes, and adapt and improve their game, they won't make it at the highest level.
I hope they both succeed.

{Ed001's Note - criticism is only useful if you are actually saying something other than "he is no better than Migs" or similar, which is what you did. You never had anything constructive, such as pointing out his weaknesses, just had digs at him. So you did trash him.}

What fair crack do they need at a hundred grand a week? Have you heard yourselves? they're not here on training schemes they are here as fully fledged proven professionals, ones which if im honest neither of are good enough for a top four side, I've nothing against either im sure they are lovely lads but don't sympathise with them and say they need time, you wouldn't get time working for the council or dropping burgers on the floor at the takeaway, you'd be out the door forthwith, why does this enter the realms of alternate reality where things that go wrong get constant backing and time to grow into the role?
If Karius or Migs for that matter need more time to learn the job tell them they're on 80 quid a week till they've learned how to do it correctly, see how long they stay to 'get better' then, im not trashing either im being realistic, neither should be here considering the basic pre-requisite of goalkeeping is catching, something neither can do consistently well. If I employ a window cleaner I want clean windows not the lawn mowing. Good day all YNWA.

{Ed001's Note - actually you are completely and utterly wrong. You do get time in any job. You don't get the sack immediately for a couple of mistakes in almost any job you can mention.}

17 Feb 2017 08:33:11
Seriously Ed? Your constant slating of Mignolet is trashing a player. i've never gone beyond saying that Karius needs to improve, which he does.
Either way, i fully support both keepers, they both just need to up their game.

{Ed001's Note - except I point out what he does wrong, not just say 'he is crap', there is a difference. I also point out when he does something right, which you have never done regarding Karius. All you did is bitch at him.}

Is the premier league the best place to make a comparison with our jobs? Managers can get relegated and do terrible and still get a huge paying job lol players can be bang average and keep getting new teams lol.

I never underestand the thinking of the previous two posters.

Ita all relative right? So let's find out - woild you work for 1% your weekly wage til you proved to your boss that you are any good!?

Neither scenario Mr Tyler comes up with, (burger flippin' etc. ) requires a high skill level or the ability to perform under intense pressure in front of 50,000 plus people. Ignore the pay: it's not relevant to the internal motivation these guys have to perform.
Just imagine doing your daily work watched by 50 people, let alone 50,000. Of these 50, 15 are going to to yell abuse at you. Any mistakes you make are going to be shown on telly.

Fair comment AndyM, I'm a lecturer and have been for 7 years. I'm confident in my ability and my success rates supports that I'm good at my job. However, every year I have to be observed by peers and by my line manager. On these occasions the pressure I feel is immense knowing I'm being scrutinised whilst doing my job. I can't imagine what it must be like having 50,000 scrutinising you, especially as you rightly point out knowing quite a lot of your 'fans' will merely berate you every time you fail to perform like a world class star.
Regarding people saying Karius is better than Migs or that they are of equal ability. Remember Karius is 23 Migs has 5 years on him, most of which has been as a first choice keeper in the Prem. Therefore for Karius to be as good at 23 is surely a good thing as it shows he can only get better as he matures and reaches his peak. Look at all the top goalkeepers currently, how many were at their peak at 23? Few to none is my bet. let's give the lad genuine support and have patience, as Ed pointed out we can not go out and buy finished products, so if that's what you want or you are unwilling to have patience with the players (the lads played 10 games and is being written off by some), then I'd suggest you go support City or Chelsea.

My issue with both keepers is that they don't catch the ball, they flap at it. It seems common to keepers from other leagues.
This is a fundamental flaw in their game yet it is constantly ignored.
We either have keepers who can't learn from their mistakes or we have a problem with our coaching or both.
I think it's the coaching and the only way to solve it in the short term is to buy a "finished product" and fire the coaches.
I don't know why we don't look at the NFL coaches. The way their receivers. corners or safetys catch an irregular shaped ball at bullet speed under intense pressure is something our keepers would do well to emulate. Granted there is not as much swerve.

{Ed002's Note - It is getting really tedious trashing one player after another and Liverpool has already had two players come out and say that the constant abuse of the fans is getting to the players. It is yet again embarrassing reading from the so-called Liverpool supporters.}
