The past few games have been somewhat hard to watch from a fans point of view because of the end result. That said we have to as fans take in to account what we have watched and what we have been asked to play against. We have suffered results that we don't like, now, we could sit there and deny such results happened as per moron mourinho did in the Efl semi, but our manager has more dignity than that. We have lost games, we have played slowly and predictably, we have dropped points. We have also had a tough run of games, we have had injuries, we have had absentees. These are all poor excuses I guess if you are a fan from another team looking in, but we don't have Utd, Chelsea, arsenal and city money for two squads. We are Liverpool, we try to play on the style of our manager, with an honesty, a hard working ethic, with a realism that we are not the finished article, with a frank sense of not ever being able to buy the title (even though we could in the 80's) . We are a work in progress, a work in progress that was to achieve top 4 this year, a target that is still achievable despite being valued lower in squad price. Keep the faith and enjoy the ride fellow reds, the Chelsea game is not a defining moment, our aim is top 4 and so far we are on track. Well done klopp and well done the squad, however, the squad needs improving and klopp needs to adapt to the Orem life, but we are doing ok boys and girls so be happy 😊

{Ed002's Note - The target is to win the Premier League - there is no "work in progress", there is no transition.}

The target was top 4 this year, the squad was never good enough to win Ed 02. Klopp is moving towards that goal, I know you have reservations about the manager which is fair enough especially after recent results where he has persisted with youth over results. I do feel he will get it right though, I also feel he never expected to win the league this year, this is a project, and before you mock us saying this year is out year etc. Livepool has been mid managed since party, we are not in the elite of finances, we are still royalty though in terms of results. Give klopp
A couple of years and give these young kids time, let klopp bring a few more players in such as name and Maria. We could then just challenge for the title, as long as the others don't just blow us out of the water financially and make premier league another Barcelona Madrid affair!

{Ed002's Note - No, the owners have had the clear target of winning the league and they have thrown vast amounts of money at the team to do it. And that is why Klopp arrived at the club. Thiese repeated pleading to give Klopp a few more years and the players much more time are really and truly hopeless. If Klopp isn't up to the job then they need to look to find someone who is.}

So you want klopp out then? For me that is not the answer. He is not a bad manager, I am sure he will get results at Liverpool, it just doesn't happen overnight. Conte has a great squad with experience, mourinho is at Utd and bought in winners, pocc has been great at Tottenham, wemger is consistent. For klopp to break those clubs strangle hold will take more than one and a half seasons, let's not fall into the sky trap of accusing good managers of not being capable after a short period ed 02. Let the guy have 4-5 years and then judge, after all we as Liverpool fans would not feel robbed, he deserves a chance, no more manager sackings every year!

Crikey if I had a quid for every time I heard an LFC fan say give the manager time, Rome wasn't built in a day or we're in transition I'd be a millionaire.
It's been like this since the 90's, always looking for players just under the radar who will maybe work out or maybe wont, we've spent cash upon cash and had the money to compete but its been frittered away on players not up to the job of winning the league.
We've had everything from the comedic stint of the former owners to Roy Hodgson and it seems somewhere we just don't tick along correctly, like a classic car not running on all cylinders, now and then we rear our heads and show that we are still capable but ultimately when it comes to accelerating past everyone we just can't quite do it.
I know FSG have tried to right a few wrongs and get us back on track but they must be pulling their hair out sometimes, surely they didn't expect the premier league to be such a moneypit (EDS? )
My own personal expectation is that I want us to try and win the league every year, I think the reality is that we are not perceived by the top echelon of players to be one of the elite clubs anymore so therefore struggle to attract who we really need to win things and stay among the top clubs.
We'll be out of this bad run soon enough but we must try and kick on for that top four spot as it could make all the difference to our summer transfer targets, the worry is we just don't show any signs of getting back to early season form and the manager looks a bit lost with it all to me.

Still in with a chance with 5 games to go every season is all I want

In my opinion Liverpool have not thrown vast amounts of money at trying to win the league. When you compare what Chelsea or City have spent on previous crusades to win that elusive first premier league trophy then Liverpools is a drop in the ocean. Maybe Fsg have used what they can afford but it certainly doesn't stand up to the owners of the 2 other clubs mentioned.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea's main spending came years ago. The Liverpool owners have provided a lot of money to the various managers - like it or not.}

I agree ed002, right before they won their first premier league back in 05? Which is my point. Chelsea spent in the previous 2 seasons to that circa £200+ million, taking into consideration this was 12 years ago. Like i have said to suggest Fsg have thrown money at winning the league is clearly wrong compared to other teams in a similar situation of not having won the premier league.

{Ed002's Note - FSG has spent a great deal of money on players - what they have screwed up with is not having a manager good enough to make anything happen. They rarely make the top four nowadays - and have spent a lot more than some of those who do.}

Ed02 is right that the owners want the PL as soon as possible and that cannot be denied. The whole "in transition" thing is nonsense and just an excuse so that mindset needs to be discarded. However, there`s a diff between what you want and what you can actually get. Right now, we can see that this squad is definitely good enough for top 4 this season BUT the title is a stretch too far as current results show so that is the reality. Our rivals who have been in the CL for years, already have big squads, assembled over time they are not stretched to the bare bones during Jan like us is hence, they are able to cope as there is no CL in Jan.

On the contrary over the years, we have spent loads of cash amassing average players ended up with a big squad mainly made up of well, average players. Klopp has coming in trimmed it significantly but since we had no Europe, throwing money at very good players to get a big squad is stupid as we would be playing one game a week potentially.

This is why we are struggling squad-wise, cos our squad has been unbalanced and mismanaged over time. We still have a chance at having a successful season and all is definitely not lost cos everything is tight at the top and things can change quickly with a run of 3/ 4 straight wins. Here`s to hoping we get top 4 is season (or better? ) and then we can build a squad that can cope on all fronts next season.

Klopp has had an immediate impact; we have been challenging for the title, and when we bed in our returning 1st choice players I'm confident we'll return to form.
Beyond that we need to develop the squad. This will take time, period. We seem to bring more things right now than wrong; let me list several of Klopp's decisions that many on this forum disagreed with that have worked well:
Buying Mane
Playing Lallana centre mid
Playing Hendo at the base of our midfield
Milner at Left back
What has gone before is history. The costs in terms of transfers etc are sunk.
Also this utter tosh about Klopp having had 3 windows: the winter window, of which we have had two, is hard to do good business in. The one summer window we have had he brought in Mane and Matip, possibly 2 of the first names on the team sheet, and forged a 1st 11 capable of a title challenge.
