ED1 what is with the hate on Can? How has he turned from like our young German prodigy to a so called horse, has he really turned that bad?

{Ed001's Note - he has not been playing well and fans have no patience.}

Nobody should hate any Liverpool player. Can is a work in progress. I think he can play a big part in the future. Just isn't quite on his game atm

Around this age/ experience, people were saying similar about coutinho. With time, he developed the consistency to be one of the best. I hope the same for Can. Give him some time

This season he hasn't done as well as expected but he's still young, needs a bit more time, he can play a big part for us in the future imo, patience is key.

He needs to play further forward. I remember watching him drive at the back four of United the other week and he was going past their left back in particular like he wasn't there. He also put in a wicked cross to the back post which Wijnaldum headed over the bar. Then you have his goal earlier in the season where he made a late run into the box and headed in, or his stunner against Bournemouth from a pull back to the edge of the area.

Personally, if Klopp wants him in the side for Mane, I'd prefer him playing on the right of the front 3 so we can keep Lallana in midfield were his creativity is critical. Can seems to be better when he is in the final third and has no time to over think his pass. He clearly lacks discipline, but he does have good vision for a killer pass. Who could forget that chop inside and outside of the foot pass in behind to assist Sturridge last season! With his height and running power he is also a goal threat. Send him further up and see how he links with Coutinho and Firmino I say. Because in midfield he is a liability, but he clearly has quality.

I've always lauded Can but recently he's frustrated the hell out of me. He slows the game down and his passing has beeen either sideways, backwards or completely wayward. Plus him being there means Lallana is pushed further forward where he has no space to use his skill. He's a good player but at the moment should be used from the bench and hopefully one day he can improve enough to command a starting slot.

Spot on, guys! Moreover, you should pop over to the This Is Anfield site where there is a full article, which is a proper hit job and pathetic scapegoating of Can as the reason for all our issues including as if he`s the reason why we show no commitment, desire or fight in games vs lesser teams and why dropping or selling him would suddenly make Klavan and Lovren stop making silly mistakes. We are literally feeding on our own right now. Good grief!

I agree he has all the attributes to be a good player just not the consistency and awareness arm. Hope we stick with him in the long run as I think he'll turn good but he certainly needs dropping on current form.

I understand that you once said young players come with frustrations, but I have to admit, i'm getting a lot more frustrated these past few games. I still have high hopes on him though. Time will tell.

There is no hate on Can. He is a bang avergar plaher prople now accepting it. Except ". He is young. " He has had nothing to show lately and people are frustrated coz he has pushed Lallana out wide.

He has not pushed Lallana outwide the manger has . Maybe don't see no other options. He tryed Sturridge there he did not understand the role . He may not see Ojo being ready and he does not see Origi as a wide player

No one hates can, he's got a lot of criticism because he's avoided it for so long. He made the same mistakes and errors last season but got away with a lot of stick, the first thing Henderson does wrong and he is the worst player on the team apparently. People are delusional about cans ability, he is a decent player, has got good attributes but is missing the most important part of a central midfielder and that is a footballing brain. I don't think it has anything to do with patience either, we hold mignolet and Moreno etc responsible for their mistakes so why shouldn't we hold Can responsible for his who has been here just as long a moreno. He doesn't offer enough going forward and doesn't offer enough going back, and in my view he's a poorer version of Henderson without the reading of the game. If you want to wait to see IF Can will get it right and sacrifice the teams performances on occasions then so be it, we won't be winning much any time soon. We need a better first team midfielder than wijnaldum and can, this is reality. We can say, let's be patient and wait, then when we've finally realised, they are the weak links, and the rest of the squad has either aged or moved on, we will be kicking ourselves when we had the chance to achieve great things. I'm not saying get rid of wiji or can, wiji should be a rotation player, because hendo lallana and wiji has worked more often than not especially going forward, but can still has to learn his trade properly and should be doing that off the bench. We need a better midfielder for the long term, someone that will improve the first 11. If you disagree and think the likes of Stewart, grujic and Can will fix things, it's time to get the rose tinted glasses off.

I don't hate Can, he gives 100% every game, but he doesn't have the quality IMO. He's a tough physical specimen, but he hasn't got the ball control or the skill to take us to the next level. Consequently, when we're looking to open a team up through slick pass and move, Can slows the momentum.
It's no coincidence since he's come back in we have scored fewer and looked less threatening. I'm sorry if that perceived as making him a scapegoat, it's just the way I see it.

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that he gets carried away when he does something right and tries to do too much. He simply is not good enough to do any of the things he tries to do, yet.}

Can for me operates better in a 4 man midfield. I don't think he and Gigi link up well together, neither is a leader ad look indecisiveness to who should be going into the space or moving towards an opposition play with the ball. With a DM in there simply to break up opposition play and take the defensive pressure off, I think Can could flourish, when he gets time on the ball to run forward and pick a pass he looks very dangerous.
Henderson got a lot of the same sort of criticism when he first joined LFC and it's taken him 5 years to be held in decent regard and still not by all fans, add into that he's only played midfield really for LFC for about a year, as Bodgers played him centreback and right back, and Germany have been using him as a utility player. He needs a little more time in his role, and more help from the centremids. I really don't think it's helping that we have a young centremid who's playing with a centremid that's played a 10 most of his life in Gigi, who won't fully understand the role himself.

Can is a good player and has the potential to become a very good player. At the moment he is not distributing the ball quick enough. He has to learn to understand what's around him before he receives the ball. Top players see the picture of where the players are before they get the ball, therefore rarely think of where to pass once they get the ball, that decision has already been made. Can receives the ball controls and then looks around for someone to pass to, in that time he is closed down and then more often than not has to pass back or loses the ball.

Hopefully he can speed his game up to match our style of play

Evered

Weren't people on here accusing Lallana of slowing our movement down last season? Too many Cruyff turns etc. We'll look at him now! (Or at least look at his performances when used in midfield this season)
Let's all have a bit more faith in the manager. He has turned a few of our players careers round so let's see what he can do with Can. He is still young, has great physical attributes, so let's see what Klopp can do with him instead of jumpingvon his back for every misplaced pass. He is a Liverpool player and we should be 100% behind him.

Can is not a winger to play anywhere in front three. He is a luxury pkayer currently with no place in the starting eleven and Klopp is struggling hard to fit him somehow. Can is not the reason we lost to Swansea but certainly culprit of not showing enough going forward. He is a misfit.

People seem to forget that in the beginning of the season, Can never played with Wij or Hendo. It was always, Hendo with Can or Wij (never both) ahead of him and Lallana ahead of them and we were killing teams. Then, Lallana got injured, then did Wij, then Couts, then Mane left. Klopp tried to make things work with what he had. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. If Mane was here, Lallana would be in CM and no one would care.

Now Can has to play there with Lallana out wide cos Studge nor Firmino are effective there. Klopp is really trying and so is Can who I agree has not been good lately os he plays better alongside Hendo and Lallana but did have a good game vs Utd. Origi would be my choice outwide to Allow Lallana to be in CM where he creates havoc. But the Can slating needs to stop. After all, he doesn't pick himself and Klopp is trying to make do with a situation he has no control over, right now.

Maybe MK has a point, give him a run on the wing and see how he does. If Klopp doesn't fancy Ono yet then try Can. It would also allow Lallana back into the middle where he is way more effective.

You're right about Lallana last season GMac but everyone always knew Lallana had great technique and buckets of ability. He was just not making the right decisions.
I don't see the same technical ability in Can, it's not just his decision making, it's a lack of quality.

my take on emre can is this, at the moment he is out of form so he needs taking out of the team, it really is that simple, take him out of the firing line and allow him to build up his form in the reserves.
