Sorry if I'm missing something or sound dumb. If Matip has retired from international football since September 2015. Then why did the club need to make FIFA aware he was not going. If he has told the nation team he is not going and is not in their squad that has been submitted then what difference does it make that Liverpool inform FIFA or not. If it's country v club thing I still don't get it, surely it's down to Matip if he wants to play or not, it's not national service. Maybe he knows his body can't take so much and is trying to look out for himself? Just seems weird if a player chooses not to play then what's the big deal?

It wasnt official retirement i don't think.

It was him saying he wouldn't continue to play for the national with the state it was currently being run.

Now the current coach has invited him to see that's its in a better way and matip is refusing.

Sorry supermane I still can't see the problem. If he has been invited to have a look but refused, is that not his choice? Still does not make any sense.
