Eds, any truth in the article of Matip having to report to Cameroon camp next week? and the possible consequences should he not? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - This was dealt with weeks ago - they "expect" him although he has said he isn't going, they will bleat about it, nothing will happen (at least not without a court case).}

Am I correct in saying if the player doesn't want to represent his country then there's nothing that can force him?
At least he didn't do a Stephen Ireland.

{Ed002's Note - That is generally correct - unless he (or the club) uses an imaginary an injury as an excuse.}

Matip is injured and hasn't played for Liverpool for a number of weeks, so I really think they are clutching at straws.

They are just posturing for the sake of it. Nothing will happen and they themselves, know it.

I think half of it is the media making nonsense out of nothing as per usual, but what do I know.

I thought they could stop him playing for his club for the length of time the national team is still in the competition.

But maybe with Matip having been out injured for a number of weeks it may be different.

They can't do a thing and they know it especially if the player refused to go or especially if it is injured.

If you could be forced to represent a country then logically players like Zaha would have no choice who they play for - the first country with a claim could call them up and they would have to be tied in there forever.
