The problem is when Matips gone our CBs cannot play together. Lovren looks much more assured when paired with Matip. I agree we need another CB otherwise we could end up like city in defence. Without Kompany there defence is a shadow of what it could be. The same applies to ours without Matip. let's not go and spend too much money on overhyped CBs the papers rave about (look where that got city with Mangala, Stones and Otamendi) but only buy if someone who can strengthen the team is available.

If Klopp could find the best CB in the PL in Matip, I trust he can find another class CB to play along sside him. The Van Dyke love-in is getting cringeworthy already. He`s not good enough regardless of the hype he gets, individually. He only looks god due to Fonte next to him, just like Lovren was great next to him. And NO, I don`t want Fonte.

For me Lovren doesn't look much more assured alongside Matip. He's a mistake waiting to happen in each game we play. He should be stepping up when Matip is out. Unfortunately he just hasn't got the calming mentality that is needed at that level.

I think we get too obsessed with poor results on here. They produce masses of analysis picking out scapegoats left right and centre, yet when we win there are a couple of posts on how well we played.

At the end of the day, Kloppo wants us to play as a team. The whole team got "the collywobbles" yesterday. They suffered from a lack of confidence. I do believe Matip helps us play confidently because he is so cool. Picking out individuals as scapegoats isn't necessary, we just have to change the way the team reacts to being under pressure when Matip is not there.

Ed25, that is my opinion based on all the CB`s I`ve seen this season. You are free to disagree.
