Ed. Be interesting to read your views on Stephen Warnock and Don Hutchinson if you have the time mate.

{Ed001's Note - in what way?}

As players mate.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know if I can give an unbiased view of those two, as I used to know them.

Warnock was never the same after Ged broke a promise to give him a run, it seemed to kill his confidence. Before that he had been a promising player, with a very good cross. Never looked a world beater, but worked hard, liked to get stuck in and could provide a decent delivery. Was a good back up for the left side, as he could play both midfield and defence.

Hutchinson is one of those players I have little time for. He was talented, big and strong, but was far more interested in living it up and exposing his private parts in public places. Nothing but a troublemaker, when he could have been an excellent player. Wasted talent.}

As always Ed. Appreciate it mate. I liked Warnock, thought he was a solid left back. Seemed to not live up to it when he moved. Aston Villa if I remember right?

{Ed001's Note - I think so, if I remember correctly. I remember him going to Coventry on loan, after coming back from a broken leg. Then he came back to Liverpool and had a chat with Ged in the summer and was promised he would get chances, as there was a few offers on the table for him. Ged was fond of breaking promises to players sadly. You couldn't trust him at all. Though, thinking back on it now, Warnock did pick up another leg break just after this, which also held him back, I think. Always seemed a nice lad though Warnock.}

Sorry to sound Dumb Ed1, but who is Ged?

{Ed001's Note - Gerrard Houllier.}

Thank You Sir.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

I think Ged was a poor manager.
Very manipulative.

The way he used the press to covertly brief on his behalf to undermine Roy Evans, Robbie Fowler, Also claiming that he discovered Stevie G.

It would be like Klopp stating that he discovered Ben Woodurn when the lad has been in the youth and international set ups for years.

Ed, didn't Warnock come back from Coventry the year Rafa arrived and Ged was sacked? Not trying to defend him, but maybe Ged made the promise and was then sacked? I always liked Warnock and was a bit disappointed to see him go. Honest player and a good squad player.

{Ed001's Note - no he defo broke the promise, 100% on that.}

Afternoon ed01 hope you're well mate.
Regarding Hutchison it's always interested me as living here in South Africa he tends to do commentary and punditry for the Premier League a lot. He's always come across as a fella that's stuck up his own arse. Even yesterday in the build up to the weekends action he kept belittling Leroy Rosenoir so much so that the presenter had to ask him why he was acting like that. And his constant defence of Slaven Bilic is getting embarrassing at this stage. Another case of pundits with agendas.

{Ed001's Note - he was not the most likeable of people I have to say. I do find it difficult to like people like him. Ones that have it all but choose to piss it up against a wall rather than making an effort. The type that will skip training for a drinking session and laugh at the fans. Jimmy Bullard is another one. Lee Hendrie was another. Selfish pricks who think the world owes them a living.}

Ok thanks ed. I take you word for it.

Worst thing you can do as a manager of any kind - break your promises.

Have a lovely day everybody.

{Ed001's Note - it does depend. Sometimes you have to break a promise when you have been let down by the person you promised. However, in this case, this was just another Houllier mistake. He would use these kind of things to motivate people, but then not follow them through as he was distracted by a 'new Zidane' or something. Shame because he did some good things with us and loves Liverpool and really wanted to succeed, but he was not a man manager and could not relate to the players.}

Yeah i agree, in some cases the actions of a person can make it impossible to keep your promises.

Overall would you say that Ged left Liverpool in a better place than when he took over? For all his faults i always thought so but at the same time i often wondered if we would have been better of keeping Roy Evans and just giving him some proper support instead of undermining him completely.

{Ed001's Note - Ged made us worse, he destroyed the youth set up and first team squad with poor signings and even worse coaching. We were in a much better place under Roy Evans, it just needed a little investment and backing of the man in charge. Instead money was thrown at Houllier and he threw it away.}

Bruno Cheyrou.
La Tallec
Pongolle
Biscan
Diof and his mate
Djimmy Trarore
And on and on

Chased Robbie to leads breaking the lads heart.
Let Stevie Mac run diwn contract to go to madrid
Let Micha Owen fist the club.

Ive said it before the biggest mistake the club made was in not bringing Kenny back at that time to work with Roy.

Late answer here ed001. You really have a great collection of sites here and it really is quite unique. Thanks for taking the time to enlighten me and countless of others again and again. I can't think of another place where you can communicate directly with resourcefull persons about important stuff like e. g. Liverpool FC ;) I highly appreciate it! Been here nearly daily for years going back to the start - i post now and then but not that often. But i rarely leave this place without emotions. Sometimes it may be something funny that Harry said under a new alias, it may be something that offended me or it may be something that made me see things clearer or in a diffent perspective. It is just great.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much. I really appreciate that.}
