Decent game but great result last night . It was 3 am here in India when the game finished, so had to keep matchsticks between eye lids to watch the youngest ever scorer in a LFC jersey . What moment. What i noticed was how Trent A-A came from RB position to congratulate his fellow academy graduate . Pure passion and joy. Now coming to the first half . It was pretty OK, the one problem even though we had a lot of possession on the left, the players, Can and Wijnaldum, aren't suited there . Probably Klopp was just trying to see if Wijnaldum can play like he played for Newcastle, on the left, because of the absence of Coutinho. But personally speaking, after watching the match, he shouldn't try that again . Everything changed when Woodburn came in and was shifted to the left . Wijnaldum has grasped that central position and hopefully he would continue to play there, combining with Mane and the RB, rather than being isolated or running out of option on the other side, LW . Can sure does take a lot of touches and sometimes hopeless running, but with time i think Klopp will make him realise to release the passes a bit quicker, but without straying . The only worries with Ejaria was he tried too much . Sometimes simplicity is the best option, but all in all a very good player . I think Trent A-A has ended the Randall's LFC career ( Positive way ) .

Loving the Red Wave. LFC over sleep.

Yeah. These midweek games are killers. I stay awake until 4-5am and show up at the office at 1-2 in the afternoon, the next day. But I'm not complaining. More than worth it.

Really good analysis, Surdy.

I would like to see Woodburn given the opportunity to deputise for Couts based on yesterday's cameo. Maybe growing into the role with Studge/ Bobby being alternates there.

Missed the first half unfortunately (or fortunately, given the reports! ) so didn't see Ejaria much.

I'd have to disagree with you there Zed, on Woodburn. It is way way too soon to give so much to a 17 year old and heap all that responsibility on his shoulders. Instead of deputising for Coutinho or any other player, I'd much rather see him being kept on the fringes of the first team, continue developing his growth and then see what happens in a couple of years. Although I trust Klopp implicitly (because he is responsible for where we are more than anyone else, right now), I wonder about his motives in inserting Woodburn into these games. The obvious is demoralizing the opposition when a 17 year old is brought in to face them, and he scores. The not so obvious (I think) is that it's an indirect dig at Sturridge to wake up and smell the roses. Whichever it is, the decision has worked out well.

I agree on the wonder kid is overboard but if he keeps getting minutes then both God and Owen developed quickly and a young age why can't Woodburn? He is rated as high as both were .

I see your point, ra, but I would like to see him get the occasional full appearance, rather than just a 10 minute cameo at the end, to see whether he does have the maturity of God or (as BBC Sport referred to him yesterday) "former Manchester United player" Owen.

A combo of Bobby and Studge, imo, are the answer to Cout's absence, but I do feel that Woodburn should be given a chance.

I have ultimate faith that Klopp won't allow him to be over played, and if he did start, he'd be taken off at 60/ 75 as Lallana was for a bit last season.

Zed, I disagree. Woodburn is a talent no doubt and I didn`t need to see him score last night to know that. I watched him in preseason and he was great and he just like Grujic was great in preseason, scored twice. He doesn`t need full game appearances to deputize for anyone. He`s already been fast tracked to play in the U23 team at age 17 so his development lies there. Can he come on for cameo performances to get his feet deeper into the throws of the PL? Sure. But let`s not be too hasty to give him full debuts in the PL just because he scored last night as that is not logical. let`s allow the boy to develop and improve in the U23 team as Ra said and all will work out in it`s own time. No need to jump the gun here.
