So the FA have appointed our referee for next weeks game, from Greater Manchester, interesting.

Although I have enough respect for the integrity of refs not to worry about the appointment of one who grew up in any area at all (after all, even if there was some bias in him because of where he grew up it could just as easily be anti united as pro), not sure I agree with a city of 500k people being a suburb of Manchester any more than Brighton is a suburb of London!

Liverpool and Manchester are separate Urban areas, in separate counties of the country, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

Bootle, historically was part of Lancashire, not Greater Manchester.

In fact if anything, the ref may be slightly more biased towards us as he may not want to be seen as favoring Utd as he`s from the Greater Manchester area, which doesn`t mean he`s a Utd fan, of course. Anyhow, what`s done is done. We move on.
