Hey Ed I love your analysis on former players, if I may put 2 former players forward to you who never seem to be mentioned. Nick Barmby and momo sissoko. Cheers in advance Ed. Great work as always.

{Ed001's Note - I have to be honest, I was not a big fan of Barmby, Lallana reminds me of him. Not in terms of the way they play overall, but in terms of how lightweight they are. Barmby was more likely to pop up with a goal but he didn't really do enough for my liking in terms of influencing a game. He always seemed to be a bit anonymous unless he scored, to an even bigger degree than Maxi Rodriguez.

As for Momo, he was more my type of player as he got stuck in and worked hard. He was maturing into a great player before his eye injury in a European game. Momo was tall, quick, strong, hard working, could pass, loved a tackle, he was a modern day midfielder in terms of athleticism but with genuine ability too. Sadly his career was ended before it really began. He was reminiscent of Vieira.}

Yeah I remember the game when momo had the injury. He was a classy player. Thanks for your time Ed, always appreciate it.

{Ed001's Note - I still remember it but I can't remember who we were playing. Real shame, he was a great lad too.}

I remember thinking he was a fantastic player to have in midfield to break up opposition play but from what I remembered of him his passing was quite erratic. I can remember being a bit frustrated at seeing him win the ball back only to give it away again seconds later. injury happened after a collision with Beto against benfica (I googled this much! )

Great player, was Momo. Loved him as a guy and was a true modern day midfielder. He had more ability than Masche, the guy Rafa sacrificed him for, IMO. He still talks highly about LFC till this day.

Ed, we were playing Benfica in the CL second round in Lisbon.

Fairly sure it was Benfica.

He was never a great passer beforehand, but he wasn't terrible either and could do enough with the ball for the role we had him in (no worse than the much more fondly remembered Mascherano on the ball, for example) . He also came up with the odd decent dribble using his strength to barge through. Afterwards though, whether it was mental or physical, he never really got his touch back.

I remember on his first game back he was supposed to be wearing these special glasses for a good amount of time. 10 minutes into the match he threw them to the side.

Momo at one point single handedly dominated and stopped the Barcelona midfield which "supposedly" had one of the unstoppable players (ronaldinho) in world at that time.

Momo was a great player, but he certainly couldn't pass, LOL. Still loved his goal (against Newcastle I think) - he went nuts. Loved him.

Hasn't Momo just returned to the PL? Can't recall which team but I'm sure he was having a trial over here after leaving his last club.

A trial with WBA. Don`t know how it turned out, tho.
