Ed001 I've been readig down the page your analysis of the last game and Hendersons performance. I have to agree with all youve said and that others around him need to take as much blame as him. Can I ask you please how you would set up in the centre of the park?

Do you think with the defence/ midfield options we have got Klopp will find a formular to get us playing as a solid unit or do you think its going to be a stop start season again.

{Ed001's Note - personally I would put Lucas or Stewart in, depending on the opponent, alongside Hendo. Play a pair at the base of midfield, and try and teach the fullbacks to hold their runs a bit longer.}

Would you not bring Can in then also?

{Ed001's Note - no because we need Mane, Coutinho and Firmino to play behind Origi.}

Ed, is your support for Origi based on Studge being off form or are you of the oppinion that Origi is simply the better option going forward?

{Ed001's Note - both.}

Which opponent though would Lucas be brought in for?
These teams that sit back and break at speed, particularly at Anfield, are exposing a situation where Liverpool has two slow central defenders pushed slightly up and then an equally slow Lucas sat in front.
The results are plain to see, and happening time and again.

Every team in the Prem has flying machines in their front three now, and Liverpool haven't seemingly woken up to this yet.
Our quick full backs are encouraged to push on, leaving a defensive guard that can't deal with pace and movement.
And putting Can back there is no answer either.

Kevin Stewart could turn out to be the most crucial player. Let's give him a chance and see what he could do there alongside Henderson.

I agree with all of this and I'd use Lucas against sides like Arsenal where you can expect to face periods of sustained pressure against the very best players, with structure and discipline and closing down space your friends. I'd use Stewart for games where you can expect to face quick breaks and need speed and mobility and solid tackling skills.

I also think the 4-2-3-1 suits us far better as it frees our attacking midfielders and our best players (Coutinho, Firmino, Mane) rather than relying on Llalana, Wijnaldum who while good, aren't as dangerous IMO.

Stewart, Can and Coutinho for me (I know you haven't asked, apologies for chiming in)

Stewart - the defensive minded sitter

Can - The all rounder. Keep the ball moving+physical presence player

Coutinho - ball carrier, 360 player - like Modric.
