I'd like to get something off my chest if I may, why do our players come out with stupid ridiculous unnecessary comments?
Latest one I've read in the echo is along the lines of Coutinho isn't far from being mentioned in the same breath as messi or ronaldo. What's the point of making comments like that?
How about the player making these comments concentrates on getting his game up coutinhos standard instead of these types of comments.
It's very tiring hearing our players say what they're going to do but then doing nothing. Shut up talking and just do it!
Thank you, rant over lol.

Oh god, it's starting. Fans completely over-reacting to generic sound bites from a Liverpool player. Looks like Hendo's next in line for the 'this player is awful' spotlight.

They're pointless sound bites is the issue.

So what is our Captian meant to say when asked about the best player in our squad? "He may think he's good but I'm better" imagine the comments then!

My rule: always ignore what managers and players 'say' to the press 😎.

He has media responsibilities like every Liverpool player, he's going to be asked about his team Mates, would you have preferred it if he'd said 'Coutinho? He's alright but he's hardly world class is he'?

Hendo should try something along the lines of "for any scouts that are listening, I just want to let you know that Coutinho is crap". Would get a laugh and avoid hype.

No no. U got the wrong guy. Likely the question is framed like this or similr- Do you think Coutinho has the potential to reach level of messi or Ronaldo?

Then of course Hendo got sucked in and say good things about his team mate. Next moment u know the ridiculous headlines. C'mon that's british journalist for u. Seems u guys got hoodwink again and again.

I think what the OP was getting at is, maybe players should play down there chances and the abilities of themselves and others, because it raises expectations of some fans while gives the press ammunition to have a pop at us at a later date should things go pear shaped.

If your asked a question like the one asked to henderson then a simple " couthinho is a top class player and were lucky to have him " would have sufficed instead of pigeon holing players or making unrealistic comparisons which heap more pressure on the player and the team.

Way too much over reaction to what is a nothing comment. They play, train, spend time together every day - do you honestly think Coutinho goes home to read the Echo to find out what Hendo thinks of him?

Come on now this is just stupid: players have obligations to speak to the press - sometimes they say things that are a little exaggerated, or incorrect - but they do it because they have to and that's it. Reading into these sorts of comments is profoundly stupid.

A nothing comment that the OP has allowed himself to get wound up for no reason over. Hendo is trying to motivate his team mate to perform and give him confidence. Players and managers do that all the time so no problem there. If you don`t understand that them there`s not much that can be done.

Yes Bazaaa that's why I put the ' ' around the word 'say'.
It's usually not what has been said, just what's been reported.
