It's all about FFP these days.

Its confusing because of our overall spend this summed was what 70 mil, on x lot of players so we were able to commit that much out along with bringing in money but we would of been able to commit for one player in at 50/ 60 mil, easily.

They're paying Pogba ridiculous wages as well. Teams have won everything there is to be won with far less. I'd rather make a Pogba than buy one.

I don't give two hoots what that idiot has to say and I'm sure managers like Ranieri have proved him otherwise that money isn't everything! I'm happy with Klopp and if he'd rather make our world class players, like we usually do, than go out and try and build a ready made team, then that's fine with me! Our way will get more respect at the end of the day!

By the end of the window we'll have not spent too much given the sales of Benteke, Allen, Skrtel, Smith, Ibe et al.
We've generated almost £70m in transfer fees even without selling Ballotelli, Lucas and Moreno. Our gross spend will probably be mid-table . which could be ironic!
Are we any stronger for it? Yes, probably overall but we are weaker slightly in defence unless we get a full-back or two in.
I'm a bit concerned about letting Lucas Leiva go so cheaply (if it happens at £2.5m) and Flanno on loan (I can see the sense if we buy in but he's a versatile defender) .
West Ham, Everton, Crystal Palace, Stoke, Southampton and WBA have no right to be mentioned in the same breath as us but if we do the double over any of those I'll walk naked around Oldham with a "Jesus is best" sign tattooed on my aris.

Agreed, I know for a fact it's more satisfying to create a star than buy a ready made, fully paid primmadona via football manager. Real life works the same too, always feel more connected to someone who made their name at the club.

Have to say I'm glad we don't, I'd imagine we'd have let some idiot waste it by now.

I fail to understand the price for Pogba as I don't see him as a matchwinner or gamechanger - perhaps I've not seen enough of him but no-one can disagree that being a standout player in the Italian league doesn't automatically mean you can cut it in the English PL, the quality over there is quite poor these days. His performance at the Euros was awful as well.

Pogba looked OK for the best team playing in a weak league, but does that justify a transfer fee of nearly £89m? No. I think we saw the real Pogba in Euro 2016. You have to ask why Barca, Real and Bayern weren't interested.

Except you are forgetting that both Real and Barcelona had a very real interest in signing him, they just lack the funds to do so right now.

Man uniteds midfield is awful and has been for a while. Signing anybody half decent would have made a massive difference to them, so pogba will make a difference as he's at least half decent isn't he, not for the price paid but money is no object to United so that's irrelevant.

anyone who thinks that pogba isn't top class is fooling themselves, it's just sheer stubborness because he's signed for a bitter rival. worth 89mil? not really but don't try to play down he can dominate prem midfields for years to come. he was asked to play a different role in the french team which meant he didn't shine, you can't judge him on that or else you could say you saw the real harry kane with zilch goals at the euros etc. i guarantee if we'd bought him, he'd be hailed as truly world class

morinho's comment sting for sure, but he's right. people in pogba's league would never consider joining us currently and whilst we might have outlayed the transfer fee across multiple signings, it doesn't account for astronomical signing on fees and wages probably in excess or 200k++++.
