Do you think jk will want to hold on to joe Allen eds?

{Ed091's Note - I doubt it, does one good game make you forget 3 years?

To be fair Ed, Rodgers kept trying to play him as a holding midfielder which he isn't and never will be.

{Ed091's Note - so shall you add him to liverpools attacking mid list that keeps on growing?

I can tell you most certainly that our Jurgen does want to hold me, want to hold me tight, get middle-aged dirty old man kicks throughout the night. However I haven't got as much meat on me as Jurgen likes.

Joe Allen suits a 3 man midfield, simple as. He demonstrates his greatest strength when he plays as a pest. He can tackle, he can pass and has a good engine.
Liverpool will simply sell joe allen and then go out and buy a joe allen. He hasn't been rubbish the last three years, like the majority has just been poor at times.
Deserves more credit and respect than he gets.

No, he has actually been rubbish the last three years. Let's say he has played 60 games in that time, I'd say around 6 of those he played well and that's a fair assessment.

I've said since he joined he wasn't doing what the hype said he would. He couldn't pass, pass even 5 yards at times, never scored and never made an assist. Totally ineffective. The amount of times he lost possesion, he was meant to be a possesion master. He couldn't pass and kept getting knocked off the ball by the slightest of breezes.

Last season he had a couple of great games, I can't recall who against. He did play with total heart which had me want him to succeed and post on here he played well. I'll always give credit where it's due and Joe deserved that at times last season. But over three years he has been poor, really bloody poor.

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I watched every game we played last season and never once did I see Allen have a great game. He was utterly ineffective every game. He ran around a lot but was always missing when it mattered. One of the worst offenders of being a stats hero but actually being a poor player. He can't tackle, his passing is poor unless he has lots of time and space, which is when every player looks good, he has no positional sense, is weak in the challenge on the ground and in the air. He does make the odd good forward run, but almost always wastes the chances that come his way to make something happen by making poor choices.

He works hard, but there is no thought to his work. He lacks the pace to get back and gets caught upfield constantly. Even when he is in position players simply run by him like he is not there. I have no idea what people see in him. He is simply not a very good player at all. No good running further than others if you are not running where you need to be.}

I also watched all of liverpool's matches last season, in some instances twice or even three times over. I can also say I went to the ground to watch a fair old few.
It's a matter of opinion Ed, I appreciate yours and am entitled to my own. Joe Allen is not a dm or a cam, and in a two man midfield does get exposed, that I can't argue. But as I saw in another post earlier about players getting played to their strengths I think he's a prime example.
As I said, matter of opinion.

{Ed001's Note - what strengths does he possess? He runs around a lot, that is it. He offers nothing. No incision, no intelligence, no control, no pace, no trickery, no quality at all. Just nothing. Headless chicken.}

He presses the ball well. Not a xabi alonso type passer of the ball, but cettainly better than milner and lucas. He can speed play up because he is direct.
Like I said it is my opinion, not an arguement. He will probably be sold and good luck to the lad, if his replacement is of greater quality. Happy days.

{Ed001's Note - when did he press the ball well? I do not see why you say that at all. If he presses it so well, why does it get passed constantly to the man closest to him and yet he is never in a position to effect what they do with it? What direct passes? If it is not sideways or backwards it goes to the opposition! Sometimes I think people just see what they want to see!

The only time Allen looked good was when he first arrived in Rodgers' passing for passings sake system, when it was not about being direct, but holding onto the ball and going nowhere. Then he was suited because he can't be direct or press or do anything useful.}

Wasn't it Allen's partner in midefield at Swansea who made him look like a good player the season before we bought him? Leon Britton I think it was.

{Ed001's Note - I think he was certainly a huge part of it.}

Eds could you see us getting rid this summer? . I always hoped for the best with the lad but nothings happening.

{Ed001's Note - we are open to his sale, so I would expect so. He is playing for a move in the Euros....}

Based on his performances for Wales so far we might get a decent price for him, nothing like what we paid of course.
