With Sturridge starting today it looks odds on he won't on Thursday and I think that's a mistake. KLOPP has favoured Firmino ahead of him at times and I can't see why when you need at least 2 goals to go through to a European final you would not pick Sturridge. Half chances and Sturridge usually takes them.
Hope he starts on Thursday.

And again, another case of 2 and 2 making 5. Why don't you wait till Thursday to see the line up before posting your discontent. All this nonsense just because he made a tactical decision to pick a team to contain Villareal hence, needing hardworkers and some on here are trying to cause a rift btw the two when IMO, there isn't any. You may disagree with his decision but to start projecting and making unfounded statements.

Calm down red, what's your problem? Just my opinion put in a reasonable manner, your reply on the other hand.

I think he will start. A Sunday to Thursday gap is more than enough time and if Sturridge gets injured and we go through then so be it. This is definitely the game to risk Sturridge, there's no point wrapping him in cotton wool if there nothing to play for so this is do or die for our season and CL chances. I wouldn't mind benteke starting also or at least being brought on much earlier in the second half (if the goals are required of course) .

I hope so kman, just with so many changes and Sturridge not being one worries me.

Hey red, you think comments (mine? ) on here could cause a rift between Sturridge and Klopp, I only mentioned team selection I didn't tell KLOPP Sturridge is knob Bing his wife.

We need all the creativity when can muster. Either that or chuck benteke in there from the beginning and try beat villarael with crosses!

7.) 01 May 2016
01 May 2016 21:50:11
Faith, when you say we need creativity does that mean you would pick Sturridge to start or not?

8.) 01 May 2016
01 May 2016 21:59:45
Sturridge isn't exactly helping his case talking shit in the press, besides he needs to knuckle down and earn a place the same as any player, did you watch the Newcastle match he missed a hat full of one on ones, personally I think his ego is getting the better of him. And I trust klopps judgement on this one.

18and5 - yea absolutely! have said elsewhere, we need coutinho, firmino and sturridge to be at their creative best. linking together etc. BUT! perhaps the big Belgian will help give us a focus point in attack, and we can nick one from a cross or a flukey one from a knock down!?

That's why I can't wait for Thursday, playing in front of our home support with all the rubbish that the papers print during the week, I really trust klopp putting out a team I know Will score goals, on our day we can play some great football so just maybe it comes down to us the fans to get the boys that final positive energy to get us home in this one.

what you need is a striker who will press none stop for the whole game force them back and into mistakes. dosent sound like sturridge to me?

18, I accused you of nothing but what your post projected. Your post will not cause a rift but could insinuate that there is one, of which there is no evidence of. Klopp doesn't care about reputations as we can see with the way he has cut Benteke to size. Klopp knows he's a talent and a natural scorer so why would he try to frustrate him? Origi as good as he can be, is not Studge and that's a fact as we all know. IMO, I'm happy that Studge finally has competition for his position and he should welcome that and pull his socks up which is what he has been doing as he and Origi have been trading goals before his unfortunate injury. He wants to play every minute and that is fine. I just wish that people should stop drawing unfounded conclusions just because the media is trying to cause problems btw them since Klopp put his foot down and said Studge wouldn't play until he proved his fitness.

Dude, what shite did he talk in the media exactly because I read his comments and I didn't feel he said what any other ambitious striker would not have said?

I think Klopp will do something like this migs clyne lovren toure / Lucas Morono Milner Allan coutinho firminho lallana Sturridge.

I'm far more worried whether our striker is scoring and creating goals than how hard they press. People really seem to go on about this pressing stuff a ridiculous amount.

{Ed001's Note - that's because they don't understand what it means. They think because Studger is not chasing around like a headless chicken he is not involved in the press. They think pressing means everyone running at the ball trying to crowd the player in possession. It means neither.

He does the job he is asked to out of possession. He closes off options by blocking passing lanes. That is the way we are pressing under Klopp. One goes to the ball, the rest varies dependant on who we are facing.

Sometimes, like Atletico do when facing Barca, the press is about taking up the spaces they use to pass into. It cuts off the quick one-twos and short passes into space that some teams love to play. Sometimes you close off the passing lanes, which is what we looked to do at the weekend.

Unfortunately there was not a unified press and so it didn't work. Most of the kids did not seem to understand what they were being asked to do, Studger was certainly not the problem. Even Benteke looked to be up for it. Unfortunately no one seemed to be on the same page, they were not pressing as a team, they were not talking enough to each other.

The issue was the lack of team understanding, they did not know what the player next to them was doing, they were not talking and sorting out issues. This is still a hangover from the Rodgers' regime, of being a bunch of players who are wanting to be told what to do, rather than being players who think for themselves. That will take time to iron out. Taking responsibility and stepping up usually starts with the senior pros, but they were being led by the player who is the worst we have for avoiding it, so it is little wonder the performance was a let down after a bad start.}

Well said, Ed. People who moan on here have no idea what they are moaning about and IMO, simply moan because every one else is moaning. Love the way you explained the press under Klopp. No need to press a player directly if you can cut of his passing lanes. And regarding the hang over from BR, his dreadful incompetence can still be seen which to me, have led to same individual errors being committed by mainly Moreno and Migs, two players BR signed.

Redohio he spoke about wanting to play 90mins as a prerequisite that's rubbish talk, there are only 5/ 6 players in the world who could demand this, physically and ability. Wise that is, Sturridge is England's 4/ 5 choice striker at the mo. he needs a reality check. about his mate down south you have to question why is he saying that to a reporter imo he is engineering a move here. he knows unlike Rodgers, he is not klopps main man. so he is putting the feelers out. that's what I took from his interview. Let's hope klopp has something in mind here with regard to central striker. on the plus we seem to have four different strikers with different playing styles at the mo firmino Sturridge beneteke ings/ origi. will be interesting to see if or not there will be a change of shape or formation next season depending on who's coming in or going out!

{Ed001's Note - what is wrong with saying he wants to be first choice? I would be far more worried about a player who is happy to be dropped.}

18.) 03 May 2016
03 May 2016 02:28:13
Exactly, Ed. It seems certain fans can't just handle a player being honest. Maybe they were expecting Studge to just lay down and take not being picked without sounding out his ambition to want to play every game. Dude, Klopp doesn't have a main man. He plays the striker he thinks will help the team game to game and nowhere did he say playing a full match is a prerequisite so you jade that up on your own. And No, he is not engineering a move as in nowhere in that interview did he imply that. Again, you made that up on your own as he will b here next season. There are so many ways to debunk you nonexistent conclusions about his interview so it's best for m to just move on.

I didn't interpret it like that Ed, sounds to me like he wants to go. ed001 you seem to be a big sturidge fanboy? . Look all I'm saying is, logically (age, injury, etc) if an offer comes in that meets the clubs valuation I certainly cannot see the club wanting to keep him when origi, firmino, Ings and possible addition depending on what the committee and klopp think about beneteke and Sturridge future. he will be missed if he does go but I for one won't be loosing sleep. Continho on the other hand that's a different story I think he has to be our best player and has been for quite some time. when he is out injured or suspended there seems to be serious lack of creativity. Painful watching some of the performances this season, let's hope we can get a positive result on Thursday and further in the Europa league, that will give us some hope of having the quality that's needed for a push for what we all want for far to long now for next season a premier league title.

{Ed001's Note - fanboy? What are you 5? You need to learn to read.}
