Spot on, Bwetty! They are both obsessed with possession and pointless philosophical platitudes that accomplish absolutely nothing on the pitch. It'd had 63% possession vs WH yet only created three measly chances. P athletic! They also act as if they reinvented the wheel when they win and then trash their own players, the club, the fans and the tea lady when they lose. Thank heavens, neither of these philosophers will ever manage us going forward. We already have a manager in place, no philosophers needed.

No. I'm not thinking like that at all. He is one of the great coaches of the past 20 odd years despite his difficult, stubborn and intransigent character. And his track record of just "trophies" in various leagues, proves it. He deserves to be respected. Don't label me a ManU supporter (as is the fashion around here) because I despise them passionately. I just think that when you're slinging mud, choose a target worthy of the mud. (People, here, would have taken him with open arms a couple of years ago as DOF, remember? )

{Ed001's Note - great? In what way is he great? His successes have come when he has been working to someone else's plan. As soon as he had that success and got the power to implement his plans it all goes tits up. Nothing great about him.}

LVG doesn't strike me as a manager who instills belief and confidence in his players. Man U won't win a trophy under him.

Ed001 - I'm thinking mostly of the Ajax years, where he managed that team that produced players like Patrick Kluivert, Marc Overmars, Dennis Bergkamp, Frank and Ronald de Boer, Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf, Michael Reiziger, and Edwin van der Sar. That was quite a generation! I accept that he used Cruyff's system and leftover players at Barcelona and Heynckes's team at Bayern Munich. I don't like his character one bit, but a comparison with Rodgers is still a bit harsh.

{Ed001's Note - and at Ajax he used the Ajax system that was already in place, not his own. The same one Cruyff based the Barca system on, which was why he was chosen to implement it at the Catalans.}

He maybe struggling now but he is a good manager. He has won league titles in Spain, Germany and twice in Netherlands, this is apart from his stint as country manager.

In his first season at United he got them back to Champions League, they also thumped us at Anfield, a favor i hope we can return soon.

{Ed001's Note - a good manager doesn't need to spend more than everyone else to merely get the team into top four. Especially not when the team were only a couple of seasons ago champions. Nothing he has done has been about him being better than his opponents, more about the club he is at being better.}

Another scary thought is were lfc not thinking about him and rodgers asa double act at one time! Lol van gal a great? No chance agree with ed 1 he's another pep guadiola inherits great teams then gets ahort term success and leaves, van gal alienates players spends to much money is arrogant and is full of himself he's just a rogers with titles.

{Ed001's Note - he is similar in one respect in particular - initial success went to his head and ruined him.}

he's not great but he's not as bad rodgers i don't think, if he manages top 4 then he's a good manager.
