Sorry if this is a stupid question but if we buy a player in Jan will they be eligible to play in the Europa League this season?

I thought I had seen somewhere that they couldn't but can't seem to find anything on it.

{Ed002's Note - No, it is rather more complex than that.

Three players can be replaced in the January list, of those one player can have played in the group stage of the other European competition (so in Liverpool's case a Champions League player could be signed and registered) as long as his club has not dropped in to the Europa League.

Additionally all three of the players could be signed from clubs who played in and got knocked out of the qualifying rounds or play-offs of the Champions League or Europa League for another club.

Players who were unused substitutes are not eligible.

And nobody targets players under these criteria.}
