I know it's been said thousands of times but there's no way we can let Lucas go. Rodgers' claiming he is our best DM should surely mean he should fight tooth and nail to ensure he stays but as we all know what Rodgers says has nothing to do with what is really going on behind the scenes.

With Lucas at the base of our midfield we played our best 45 minutes of the season. It was no surprise that Milner had his best game for us with Lucas behind him. Sadly it seemed Lucas was waving goodbye when he left the pitch.

I don't think the manager wants a defensive midfielder.

He's the best we've got and they way he has been treated is shocking. Just shows what a top lad he is. After all the crap he has taken he still turns up and gives a top performance.

I agree that this show how important a defensiv midfielder like Lucas is to our style of play against teams like Arsenal. Teams that doesn't just "park the bus" and go for the counter.

However it should be noted that maybe only 20 % of our games would be against teams and set ups like this. Another 40 % of the games, mostly away, he could also be used very handily, even as a sub, to come in and steady/settle the ship, but for the remaining aprox 25 games, there is no room for him. Very happy to see Rossiter get some playing time, even though only for a short time.

That being said, I hope that Lucas is staying, with Rossiter as the backup. We as a team need him
