I like Emre Can as a player and think we should be building our team around him. My only problem with him is he looks like there's always a red card in him. I'm glad he's got a bite in his game, something we miss I think, but I don't know whether it's a rush of blood or not

My concern is he's very slow over the first 5-10 yards and he needs to build a head of steam in running . He needs to work on this . He's got a it about him . Looks heavy to me . I do like him and hope he has a top season tho . Obv

He is still quite young. All that is required is a bit of experience. I can remember a young Gerrard throwing himself into tackles. He will learn.

Totally agree 5ive. Can does appear to have a slow acceleration and he seems to take quite considerable time to turn his body around.

I know he's thought of very highly in Germany. Can should be playing he hasn't had a decent run of games IMO

He is carrying to much weight.

He's not obese or anything but he's very top heavy.

His speed won't improve an awful lot but his stamina is woeful aswel.

I expect the if he gets games fitness issues but I'm not pointing out that.

His body is an issue.

I saw him in the under 21 euros and he is looking out of breathe and very leggy within 20 minutes.

There could be a lot worse things he needed to work on.

My only fear is he has had his last growth spurt with still being a kid and has filled out a bit and it is his natural build rather than stuff he is tacking on in the gym or burger kings.

Enough rambling

Slim fast Mr Can that is all.

Gerard was dynamic . Great stride on him . Rash when he was young but could tackle . Every pass in the book a superb strike . No point in in a comparison in any level . Can is a great retriever of a situation and has ability . But a dm he is not . I fear arsenal will pass him out along with Milner . Brenda needs to change tack and not go with the previous 2 games formation .

Great point by 5ive, that's my concern. I think he will be ok and Jan Molby is a good reference point in this respect. He the first 5-10 to get going but was then unstoppable. He had to be eased in for first two seasons but found his niche and strength after that. That said, patience of players and fans alike to allow development ain't what it used to be. Also the game is faster with less breaks in play.

Was on a flight he was on this week. there's not a pick on him!

Big Jan hardly moved 10 yards in a game! The centre circle was his domain.

I agree - he looked slow and lacking mobility against Bournemouth - he's a tank when moving forward with the ball and clearly has a ton of talent but it does concern me defensively against the likes of Arsenal who rely on speed and quick movement that he'll be given the run around.

Can looks like a man against boys for the German U21s. For me, he will be one of the top midfielders worldwide soon enough and will end up captaining Germany in a couple./few tournaments.

For a player whose biggest weakness is positioning should never be shorn as a DM. He is a kickass B2B player for me.
We are in trouble with Lucas exit. Real trouble.

He is clearly not obese perhaps too muscular but that must be his natural build. His speed is fine off the mark and agility wise he is not the greatest and perhaps some specific training may help.

He's speed is far from fine off the mark .

Lucas going.

I'd rather it was Brenda.

How can he not see the importance of this player ?

Bournemouth were unlucky. Arsenal will be the real test.

Irish Rover to say Jan Molby couldn't run is ridiculous.

Do you not remember this Molby goal?

Thank you Mr D, irish rober may also like to remember the 86 cup final, molby ran the game in the second half playing in both halves of the pitch.

Molby was built like a tank but mobile like Can.

I think we've got to stop comparing him to Gerrard to begin with. Cans a solid lad and a good tackler but lacks that driving pace that Gerrard had. Over 20 yards he gets up to speed and powers past players. I stick to it that the midfield should be built round him whether he's there as a DLP or a DM. He might be wasted as a DM but I'm sure he could play a similar style/position to how Gerrard played in our 13/14 season.

I wasnt comparing Can to Gerrard only that in Gerrards youth he was a bit rash also.
