Keeping an eye on Rossiter this evening as I feel he will make a proper breakthrough this season if Lucas leaves and we don't sign a midfielder.

Things seen from the first half:

1) Most impressive in his defensive positioning - ie providing cover at CB when Ilori gets forward. Also doesn't vacate the central area too often cutting off Everton's chances to counter. He always checks around him to ensure he is in the right position and makes slight movements to cut off angles for the opposition passes when Liverpool aren't in possession. Only on 1 occasion did he get caught upfield from a Liverpool corner which resulted in an Everton Break.

2) Comfortable on the ball but playing more short passes rather than being too adventerous (much more tiki-taka from the U21s than the first team) Did make 1 really cutting edge pass which resulted in us hitting the post.

3) Loves a tackle - sometimes a bit too forceful but it is a derby so I'm not complaining too much!

4) Controlling the tempo of the game ie always making himself available for a pass.

Jose Enrique in the stands trying to learn a thing or too from Maguire. I don't think he was on twitter at the time though.

Instagram I reckon AZ probably taking a picture of his meat and potato pie at half time!

Would love to see Rossiter get a proper run in the 1. team.

Not sure it would happen though

Given the final score and the time of your post (and good overview) - how was he in the second half?

I hope he gets his chance this season even if it is 35 games in the championship.
