Hi all

Just watched a YouTube clip of Firmino vs Depay. I know those sort of clips can be very misleading, but if you aren't sure about Firmino's quality I'd encourage you to check it out.

Anyway it got me thinking and I was wondering who you guys think will have a better first season? Firmino has the advantage of being a bit older and has played in a harder league ( no disrespect to the Dutch league). I personally think that Depay will turn out to be the better buy, but Firmino may have a better first season.

I think depay was the better purchase, but who knows. We will be in the position to judge pretty soon.

Depay is better I think, he has everything to succeed. Firmino also has a lot a quality, of course, but he lacks the physical aspect and the power of Depay

Think Firmino will have a better debut season but expect Depay to make a bigger impact over a long period of time - nothing about him being "better", just that his style is more sorted to the premier league (pace, power).

In 2014 Firmino was ranked as the 4th best player on earth behind just Messi, Ronaldo and Reus.

Depay is still a kid. What a silly question. Firmino is on another level entirely right now.

According to EMS mate, if Liverpool would have signed him u can bet your bottom dollar he would of posted a post about how Depay was a far better pick etc.

Neither Reus or Firmino are in the top 4 in the world, or even the top 20 hardly.

You cannot really answer this, as much is dependent upon how the team around them plays. We could quite easily make Firmino look bad or good. and the same can be said of Man Utd and Depay. Firmino is our player and so I hope that his strengths will shine through this coming season.

Not seen enough of either to be fair.
Both have good reputations and are obviously talented.
If your going to push me for an answer I would say firmino will have the better season, older, currently better, already moved country once so it won't be much of a culture shock, especially coming from Germany, he also links up well with coutinho so there is already one player at the club who knows his game and can link up well.
United have a good player there though.

Hence why Firmino and Reus have been linked with Barcelona and Depay has been linked with Man United and Newcastle.

I can only assume none of you claiming Depay is better have ever seen either play, because it's not even open for debate.

They have firmino 9th, They also have James Rodriguez 7th over all.
Says everything you need to know. I thought you were a sqwaka man any way.You were 2 years ago

I love how when stats go your way,they are the most relevant information,yet when they don't you put in little caveats and say to other who use stats,''stats are only reliable when used in conjuction with other factors'' or ''stats aren't everything''

EMS where are you making this up from? Whoscored has Firmino as 9th followed by Naldo! Says a lot about those ratings.

Not saying that Firmino isn't better, but that is awful justification. For the record, I think Firmino is better now but Depay will be better

Stats mean NOTHING on the field of play which is the true reality of the game. Nobody knows who will be better btw the two because only time will tell so what`s the point asking especially if bias is involved in such a prediction as it clearly is here?
