Ok so its pretty clear that this seasons drop in league position is due to the manager & transfer teams failure to secure the right attacking players in the last two transfer windows. But overall are we performing that much worse in all areas?

Defensively we've actually looked better this year. We've scored less but conceded less.

In the big games we've struggled, CL was poor as were both our games against Man Utd. Nowhere near last years demolition jobs.

We've not found the net in the games against weaker sides too, Hull being the prime example.

Overall it means we are not far off being top four. We've got some fantastic young attackers for the future, Markovic, Ibe, Lallana, Sterling? Sturridge?

Last year we exceeded expectation and this year its back to reality.

We need a bit more patience. Give Rodgers more time (unless Klopp will come), get in a strong DoF to help him.

More time? 3 years not long enough to show any sign of progression then?

Even Daglish won a cup in half the time with a much worse squad.

There is an argument to keep Rodgers, but lack of time and money is not it. The only argument is that you're happy with finishing 4th-7th because you think it's where we belong.

The thing is hopeful red the squad we have is good enough to make top 4 , they just aren't being managed properly.

Hopefully spurs and soton go above in the league and we can concentrate on top 4 next year.

I think the frustrating thing is for years we have only been a small step away from really properly competing, and it just hasn't been properly addressed. Last summer was a real opportunity to create some financial balance and squad stability by putting the touches to a team who can consistently compete at the top level and we just didn't spend wisely enough to do this. So now it seems we are no further than we were when BR took over a few years back. We are always so close, but not close enough.

Last year really was our chance, the top 4 this year will really pull away financially.

We spent some important money on very young players, Markovic, Can and Origi who represent about £40 million, I think all of those players will have improved second seasons, obviously Origi didn't play for us in this campaign so no need for tea leaf studying on that one, Can has played in a secondary position to his favoured central mid position and Markovic has looked pretty lightweight.

I remember Henderson being maligned by many a fan in his first season and much of his second at that. So there is potential for growth within those three for our first team, which is important to keep in mind I believe.

The likes of Lallana, Lovren, Balotelli and Lambert haven't really done it for us consistently, whether because of injury, quality or fitting into a system that simply isn't suiting the players, although I think Lovren has gotten better than when he first arrived.

So, I'm hoping and looking to next season with a few additions such as a half consistent strikers to help chip in with the goals. That's where I'm at.

"We need more patience" - really?
We've been patient for 24 years!
This is the problem with LFC: it's always about NEXT season when "things will be be better if we buy this and that player."
We have SPENT close to £388 million in seven years and had a sniff at ONE title.
We are where we are because we live on past glories.

We deserve to finish outside of top four based on our performances this season, I wish it weren't so.

Its frustrating and disappointing as we were right in the mix last year so can understand why a lot of people are upset.

Bar last years exceptional break from the norm we've been steadily improving. If only in small steps.

The bigger picture is things are on the up. Its slow and painful but we'll get there.

Spending over 200 m to steadily improve is not acceptable. I doubt FSG signed him up for steady improvement. If anything we are going backwards.

4th - 7th is where Liverpool belong, last year was the first time in 5 years that finished in the top 5 and in that time City have grown enormously.

If mediocrity is your thing, by all means sign him up for life. The prob is that like most fans, they want success because they have tasted it (Red Sox championships under their guidance) and will NEVER settle for less just because some are afraid to sack a manager for fear of God knows what. AIN`T going to HAPPEN under these guys. They want success and have put their money where their mouth is. They have been duped by people they trusted and who took advantage of their thoughtfulness like BR conned them into releasing the funds even tho, they did not trust him BUT had to in order to you know. WIIN. They will not tolerate failure because they are not Mike Ashley that is, not interested in the money they make on transfers and God bless them. They will rid themselves of those blocking theirs and the club`s progress and BR is one of such people and I know this because they`ve done the very same thing whenever a Red Sox manager failed.
