Ronaldo's drive and need to be the best was exceptional. The physio at man utd said he was the most driven footballer he'd ever met. And he worked with utd in their prime so worked with a lot of 'winners'. English footballers tend not to have this drive, so no I doubt he will be.

Personally - and I know I'm going to get shouted down, I don't think he's that special. He's good - but he flatters to deceive a lot of the time. I think Ibe will prove to be the better player.

Not so sure on stats tbh. Mignolet is the best keeper in the prem on recent stats, not suggesting he hasn't done really well, but.

Ronaldo would drive through teams, just had/has this huge arrogant self belief and has proven himself. I remember him being the fake Ronaldo, all step overs with little end product and hardly a threat. Then I think he went to the gym throughout a summer and listen to Fergie about ending the flair with some product. Bang.

I do see some bits with Sterling, the endless step overs with little end product. But I don't see the driving through teams and taking a game by the scruff of the neck. I don't see Sterling as strong or dangerous. Also Ronaldo is 6ft+ and has a good jump and powerful header. His free kicks, his tricks other then stepovers. I could see Ibe more like Ronaldo, size shape and footwork, he has that drive at defences and huge self belief.

For me Ibe, not sterling, will be closer to Ronaldo in the future

when Jese first signed for RM he turned up two hours early for training to impress coaches etc only to find Ronaldo was already there training

Little harsh to categorise it through nationality in this respect. You'll struggle to find many people regardless of nationality that have the drive and passion that Ronaldo had/has.

Just look at his physique, from the skinny little lad at sporting/united to what he is now, that is no mean feat in itself, absolute strict diet and training regime whilst his usual training and match days. Pure dedication.

Sterling certainly has a high ceiling, maybe not to the point he'll reach Ronaldo's level, but certainly Hazards. Who in my opinion still has a long way to go to reach (my definition of) world class.

He wont, he is already into the money game, whereas he should concentrate on his football. and be least bothered about money. he isn't the most sincerest lad either. he is 20 and he gets burned out, needs holidays and has tantrums.
i am sure he will move to a big club only to spoil his career in the future. Although what i am pretty certain about is he is going to have one blistering season for us (not this one though :P ) and probably that's it. anyways best of luck to the lad on his future

Comparisons of that kind are always tricky. For one thing unlike Messi or Rooney who were unbelievable players from an early age, Ronaldo was a good but not sensational player until 2006-2007 when he dramatically raised the level of his game - a lot thanks to one on one coaching by Rene Meulensteen, according to some accounts.

It also depends where you play and what is your role. Sterling's statistics benefited a lot from the magic year of Luis Suarez last year and this year by the fact that for large part of the season he was our main and many time only man upfront. Don't get me wrong the statics is all his and he earned it due to his performances but I wouldn't read to much into it in terms of comparisons to other players as a prediction of the future.

All those who are now praising Ibe more than Sterling will eventually turn their head once Ibe refuse to sign the contract in future.

Raheem Sterling 3 years ago was the best here for everyone including the other fans.

Had Sterling signed that contract things would have been different.

😊😊

Akshith

Mate your disappointment should be towards BR labeling him as the next Messi and Ronaldo, the savior of the club.
What else you need to turn your heads.

Sterling will never be as good as Ronaldo because to be as good, he will have to be way better. His size gives his strength, pure physical strength, which he can call on when necessary to give him time and space that Sterling will never be able to do. Even is Sterling becomes as able, he won't be as good

As a winger at the comparable ages, I would say Raheem is better. I never liked Ronaldo rigidly stuck on the right. His constant diving and poor crosses were a problem. In terms of a free role, Raheem I don't think will come close to Ronaldo. It was about 2006 I think Ronaldo was given more room to express himself and get in between the lines, so I'll wait another 2 years for Raheem to develop. I just don't think he's got the same ability as Ronaldo though.

Raheem, talented sure, world class. No, not for me.

To whoever it was who said "2 years ago we all thought Sterling was the best" I think you better check the archives. I've always maintained that Ibe would be the better player, as did a few others.

He's always had better technique, pace, power and intelligence. Sterling is just more fancy to watch and slightly older.

13.) 16 Feb 2015
Spot on EMS about that, i'm very sure I've seen people saying that Ibe is going to be better than Sterling few years back.

{Ed001's Note - I know I certainly thought Ibe had more potential. I do think we are very lucky to have both at once and should do our best to ensure we hold onto the pair. Sterling is a very good player, he just lacks the physicality of Ibe, who is a powerhouse.}

First time I saw Ibe other than in the odd clip here and there is when they played in melbourne pre-season. I know it was just a friendly but it was 18 months ago. Both started and Ibe looked by far the better player.
