Ed2 what's the latest with Dembele mate? Are Chelsea close to a deal?

{Ed002's Note - Ousmane Dembele (RW/LW/F) Klopp's interest does not seem to go away but the attraction will be that he is a Free Agent in the summer - although his preference is likely to be elsewhere unless Salah or Mane were to leave and it seems likely Mane will. Barcelona have tried again with a new contract with no luck and his agent is offering him around - but he is looking for a very large signing on package and significant wages. The issue with signing a new contract surrounds the same signing on bonus he is requesting from potential new clubs - as the same is being asked of Barcelona. PSG are seeking a French player still but have a preferred option and they don't need an Mbappe replacement - although Dembele fits the bill as a Di Maria replacement. Injury concerns, inconsistent form and high wages must be considered by any potential buyers. His agent has been told to find him a new club, and has spoken with (at least) Manchester United, Newcastle, Spurs, Juventus, PSG, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs. Most English sides would want far lower demands to consider him, but both Klopp and Tuchel do still like him. A new contract is looking less likely as Barcelona are progressing on his replacement, although price is blocking that transfer right now.

Ed's, with Diaz apparently moving to us in Jan rather than the summer, this is assuming he was signed to replace Mane as the club potentially knew of Mane's plans to move on. Would this mean realistically we are not in the market for a player like Nunez who is going to cost a lot of money, but more looking for origi replacement?
I just don't see the club, A) having the finances, B) seeing the need until Salah potentially moves on, to make that kind of big money outlay .

{Ed002's Note - Diaz was unrelated to Salah. I would not hold your breath about Nunez moving to Liverpool.}

Hi Ed, thanks for the reply, I understand the diaz signing is unrelated to Salah. My query really being, was he bought in advance as Mane replacement? And with regards to liverpool looking at a further attacking player, will that be as an origi replacement? Rather than a big money signing of such players as Nunez etc.

{Ed002's Note - It was unrelated to Mane as well. If Salah or Mane leave they will be replaced. Liverpool should look to players they already have at the club to replace Origi and Minamino.}
