Ed’s, quick question on Lovren.
I read one of your quotes yesterday stating that Lovren chances of a move have diminished in the last 10 days? Why so?
Also, assuming Shaqiri was an option to form part of a deal to sign Werner, that option now being dead in the water, will LFC likely look to do something similar with DC of Sevilla to come in as VVD partner?
Hope you are all safe and well.

{Ed002's Note - (a) Lovren was a Plan B for Roma but they are close to agreeing their Plan A now. (b) Shaqiri was never part of any deal for Werner - there is the opportunity to include Shaqiri in a deal for Diego Costa but that is of course on the back-burner right now.}

Diego Costa!? Wow, that is an odd move. Didn't think that would be the kind of personality Klopp would be after. I noticed he has been under performing since his return to Atletico, any particular reason Ed002? Injuries?

{Ed002's Note - It should have said Diego Carlos, who Klopp of course wants as a starter. But Diego Costa may well be available as well.}

Haha, that makes more sense! Although, I am in the Joe Gomez should be starting with VVD corner. so maybe the transfer makes little sense.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp clearly thinks otherwise with interest in Diego Carlos and Diego Llorente as an option - but it all depends on a CB leaving.}

Thank you Ed002. Really hope this doesn't affect Gomez's progression if it happens. Has the potential to be a Liverpool and England great.

{Ed002's Note - Everyone seems to think a lot of him but there is no doubt that Klopp wants a CB - and those he has been looking at are starters rather than cover. Maybe that will change with the current financial issues.}

I think Gomez still has Neymar in his pocket from that England match. He’s got a big future that lad.

Sounds like Klopp doesn't see him in the same light as the fans which seems rather strange. Obviously he is in a better position to see how good a player is but the partnership of Gomez and VVD has never lost a game when starting together I believe.

Do you have an opinion on the 2 players mentioned ed? I know little about them and wonder if they can make the transition to the PL without issue. Good enough for Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - Carlos is seen as an outstanding CB and would be a very good addition to the Premier League. Real Madrid maintain an interest. Diego Llorente is again seen to be well thought of and typically plays in a back three.}

Interesting. Plenty to ponder I suppose.

Thank you for your time and knowledge Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

I wonder if Klopp is considering 3 CB's?

Kind of think moving to a 343 with 3 excellent and quick centre backs would definitely fit the klopp ethos. Free up Robertson and TAA a little more and continue to defend our half way line like a pack of vicious dogs. Reduces the impact of aging centre mids as we would only need 2 starting each game. This could be klopps finest masterstroke!

I can sort of understand why Klopp would want Diego Carlos. If VVD did get injured, then Gomez plus DC would seem more than enough to hold the line. Part of me feels like we need another forward, but if Keita can stay healthy and our forwards start passing to Takumi more, I think we will be fine. Before the season was suspended I remember seeing Takumi in many a good position but the others wouldn't pass to him. I think as well if Keita can stay healthy, then our attack would be fine, he looks awesome when he's fit and playing. Then DC makes sense, however I do not think he is a necessary signing.

It makes perfect sense to me that JK would want a robust, mostly injury free world class rock to partner VVD in defence. This is no slight on JG or Matip yet neither have shown themselves to be particularly consistent on the injury front.
I would be more than happy to see Carlos brought in, he is a leader a goal scorer, remains injury free and would be another great brazilian addition.

I don't see why we would want to play 3 CBs. In most games we are controlling possession deep inside the opposition halves with our FBs pushed all the way up. In that scenario why have an extra CB on the pitch at the cost of a midfielder who can likely contribute more in terms of creativity than a CB?

Do you expect Matip to stay with us Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Hhanif005 when we push the full backs on you will notice that a centre mid. typically fab will almost make a back 3. The extra CB would serve to allow us to consistently have 7 players in the opposition half. meaning no space for teams to play their game. more turnovers and less running for front players. It honestly would feel like a good evolution of the current system to me.

I am just imagining VVD playing as Sweeper in a back 3 with a licence to move into midfield, akin to Sammer in the early 90s.

What a sight that would be to behold. VVD, striding effortlessly across the turf, advancing up the pitch. The opposition not knowing whether to engage him or simply watch his majestic prowess with awe.

30 yds from goal and with a graceful strike with his right foot, the ball arrows in the top corner.

I need a lie down.
