Hello Ed02, If you are around, A "Yes" or "No" would do it for me and probably for the site mate. Do we have any interest in Nabil Fekir. I cannot control my emotions after hearing the rumors. Exceptional player and I would be jumping all day if we do have any credible interest. There is nobody I can ask this question other than you! I am sure you like majority of the posters on this site. 🤗🤗🤗.
Perfectly fine if you don't want to answer or I could post it on the European page if that's the right page.
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - As a special treat. Liverpool have no agreement in place for Lemar, Maddison, Fekir nor any other of the done deals at this time. They will look to adding a versatile attacking midfield player as an effective replacement for Coutinho. AS has been explained a number of options have been looked at and there are scouts still looking at players across Europe and they will have looked at the likes of Fernandes, Fekir, Draxler etc.. Specifically, the Lyon Sporting Director has spoken recently (since Fekir reurned from injury) with two sides, one English and one Spanish but Lyon would like the player to stay and are very difficult to deal with. Arsenal has had a long-term interest in Fekir but whether the new senior management will continue the interest AW had in the player is unclear at the moment. So right now Fekir has certainly been watched by Liverpool but they have not discussed anything with the Lyon owner or Sporting Director - but perhaps they will.}

That would do it mate! ☺️☺️ Top class and I am sure the whole page would appreciate it. I am happy Klopp is looking for someone to replace Coutinho and Fekir is an excellent choice, head and shoulders above the rest!

Could do with a RB to release TAA Into midfield, I didn't like the look of Clyne yesterday, is anyone on that radar? Or a Lovren replacement?

{Ed001's Note - I have told you all along that one of the main priorities was a right back and all season long everyone has told me we don't need one.}

If we do pursue him could potentially be really great next to Keita. Seems like he's really matured as captain. A proper leader and someone that thrives under pressure would be great for our midfield.

I Like trent and Gomez. But then as trent is being played in MF.

Gomez could be CB, Rb is a position we need to look at for sure. Clyne barely looks like a footballer these days. Hopefully we recruit well in summer, let go some of the players who need to move on really. As we are now kind of down to the bare bones and the players look knackered. Improving the depth additionally while keeping the quality there would put us in a great position to compete for the prem as well as cups as well i think :)

{Ed001's Note - was that 'these days' a mistake?}

Ive never not agreed with you eds001, the majority seem to swing from we're desperate for a GK, then desperate for a CB then desperate for a striker incase of injury . I think the RB is paramount, do you expect clyne to leave eds? Is anyone remotely interested?

{Ed001's Note - he would have gone in the summer if we could have got rid, he is available if anyone shows any interest. Right now there has been nothing, but Palace might well be interested in taking him back in the summer. Now they are safe it is a possible destination and he has been long keen to return to London.}

Let's we can see the back of him Ed, come summer, he's never been good enough for us, I'd even go as far to say he's not good enough for Crystal Palace either but they can have him lol.

Ed001, IIRC, it was yourself or Ed002, who mentioned a while back some players who were being looked at for RB, I think Sociedad's and Bilbao's RB's were mentioned as being looked at, along with a couple of players from Germany. Is that where it still stands, or are LFC now looking elsewhere? Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - pretty much still the same mate.}

Klopp has been looking for an RB since the summer of 2016 and that clearly, has not changed. The hope is we can move Clyne on and bring in a natural RB who can play the way Klopp wants so Gomez can shift to CB and TAA can either continue his apprenticeship at RB or move into midfield. I know he did not have his best game (neither did anyone bar Mane) v Chelsea BUT I thought TAA did not do too badly cos he played some nice, incisive passes esp. in the first half.

I agree that we need a right back but I don’t think Trent is quite ready for the midfield. Sunday’s performance against Chelsea is proof of that. I know he is a youngster, and is coming off a grueling stretch of games for a player of any age, but he looked way out of his element. I’m happy to see him rotate there and right back while he continues to develop, but I think it’s premature to say he’s ready for the midfield role.

TAA is young and still learning given time he could become a top player. Clyne offers nothing. So damm right we need a right back Eds1.

Would anybody know if there is anyone in the youth that can step up?

25.) 08 May 2018
08 May 2018 11:15:26
aoe if you're asking whether anyone would know then yes, probably some of the people who work in the youth setup would know. But for actual information about promising young right backs at the club then look no further than Corey Whelan. Neither Flanagan nor Randall are close to good enough and will be let go in the summer. Whelan is a Republic of Ireland U21 International and was Liverpool U23 captain until going to Yeovil on loan in January. He did fairly well for them starting 9 games and scoring his first senior goal. He's a big lad who can also play at CB but does have decent ability with the ball. Whether he can 'step up' or not is not something that should be asked of him at this stage and regardless we need to buy a senior right back to replace and improve upon Clyne. I'd argue that we also need to buy in a replacement/ upgrade on Moreno as well but that's a separate conversation. Trent is the one who already stepped up from the youth and has a great future, don't take that for granted, kids like him don't come along very often.

Aoe, it's impossible to know if anyone an step up to the first team without trying them. For me I'd like to see Curtis Jones get a chance in the first team and Bobby Adekanye (who could prove to be great cover for Mane and Salah) . Also I think Connor Masterson deserves a chance next season.
Honourable mentions to Adam Lewis, Liam Millar and Rafa Camacho.

Oh and of course Rhian Brewster should get a chance once he's over his injury. We know all about him already but he needs to be given a chance if he can return to his level of performances prior to his injury.

Cheers for the replies folks- I used to have Liverpool tv for the reserves but money is tight these days so I’m lost now as to how they’re getting on. Spot on about putting too much pressure on the youngsters, i am just all about trying to develop youth as much as possible in this day and age with the exorbitant fees been handed out. I think we’ve begun to improve looking after the younger lads a little more, which is better for the club but more importantly the young lads themselves. I was hoping master son would get a start at Brighton if it wasn’t a need to win but hopefully he’ll get a chance in pre season. I hadn’t heard much about whelan but again- hopefully he’ll get a chance in the friendlies and continue his development.
