Eds do we have an interested in Donnaruma and considering the financial mess Milan are into would a January bid from LFC be considered or they are not open to a January sale?

{Ed001's Note - he is a bit of a problem child and has been messing Milan about, they are not happy with him or that they were forced to sign his brother on a largish wage to keep him. Also the fans have turned on him because he is trying to get out of Milan. So they would be open to a sale but the options are limited as he expects to go to Real Madrid, as he thinks no one else is big enough for him. Have to wait and see if he is right but personally, good as he is, I think Alisson is better and I would move heaven and earth to get him.}

Sounds like a bit of a big head to me and at his age, he sounds like trouble, I'd rather we kept away from such players personally.

{Ed001's Note - he has seemed to let things go to his head recently. Sadly.}

Where possible i'd be keen for us to stay away from players managed by Raiola. there always seems to be huge additional costs associated with any deal he negotiates.

Unfortunately it seems to be happening all too often with these youngsters, they have too much power some of them and think they can do what they want, they think they're bigger then clubs and I don't like that.

Aside from this I'd also like to see Alisson signed for us, I think he'd be the perfect fit for Liverpool. I don't know if there's any truth to it but I read Roma have put a £44m price tag on him, money is irrelevant to me. I don't understand the finances in football and not really interested in learning about it but should that be true I think we should go all out to sign him.

My only concern with singing him in this window would be Karius, he deserves his chance and if we brought in Allison this month he'd be back down the pecking order and probably sold in the summer which would in a way be a shame because I think he can be quite good for us but at the same time, Karius or Alisson? it's a no brainer.

Spot on ed, from the outside looking in i feel klopp likes squad harmony. Allison looks a real decent keeper and i wanna keep bobby happy at liverpool so let's get the Brazilian, poor lads been left with moreno.

Ed can i ask why Alisson and not Oblak?

{Ed001's Note - because Oblak has never had to do the kind of job our keepers need to do, whereas Alisson has shown he is suited to it.}

Alisson or Oblak for me, but Alisson does have a very commanding presence and is a brilliant shot stopper.

Thanks Ed for the answer! Hope we get him!

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't hold my breath, there are a lot of clubs that would love to get him.}

oblak plays behind a team that sets up defensively with good strong natural defenders so as good as he looks he's not as much to do as others.

Is the Allison rumor media gossip or have we actually taken a look at the lad?

{Ed001's Note - we have looked at him.}

You know what Ed, if we used some of the recent addition to our funds to sort this out, it would probably have a greater impact on the team than simply buying a like for like replacement for Coutinho since scoring doesn't seem like a problem with Mane, Salah and Firmino.

{Ed001's Note - agreed keeper should be the number one priority now.}

You only need to see how many games De Gea saves for United to see how many points we would pick up with a genuine top class keeper between the sticks.

Why would Alisson come to us now? In the summer sure but right now, what's the incentive to move? I'm sure he wants the brazil no.1 shirt and where he is now he has a settled defense who he knows, the chance to play in the champions league with a very good chance of reaching the quarter finals at least (they play Donetsk) and most of the biggest domestic games still to play.

If he moves to LFC now he won't get any more CL football (which also means we keep playing a rusty keeper in the CL), he'll be with a defense he doesn't know and who are still far from settled with no practise games to ease into andmost of our big domestic games already done, with 2 of the remaining 3 being away games.

He knows the risk of this being a 'now or never' opportunity is low and we will be back in the summer if he wants it. So unless he's a secret diehard liverpool fan who would give his left nut to pull on the shirt tomorrow, and even if we assume Ed002 is wrong and we are actively looking to sign a keeper this window, and that somehow we can convince Roma to part with him mid season despite really not needing to, what exactly would Alisson gain by moving now?

If we buy Allison it will not be to come to us now but to come to us in summer.

Cheers for the reply ed, fingers crossed the club make the right move. In truth I didn’t know much about him until the speculation. As of now, I’m happy Karius is getting the opportunity to impress but the potential aquasition of a potential star does get the heart pumping.

Hjikle the answer is simple, a pay rise. Do not underestimate the power of money, even to these footballers who have more than they need, more money is what they want.

Thanks Ed001 for the answer. If there is a chance of signing him i would get him for 50-60 mil and sell him to Real Madrid for 150+ after a couple of years 😁.

{Ed001's Note - welcome, but would it not be better to just buy Alisson for the long term?}

The keeper shouldve been number 1 priority some time ago. Desperately needs sorting out imo.

17 Jan 2018 14:26:30
Beef - perhaps true at other times but considering a good world cup with Brazil would probably get him a high wage in negotiations anyway, is it really worth risking it for him? Probably not, there is still a limit on what we could afford to offer. And it's not like he's at Sampandoria or something and will be tripling or quadrupling his wage, he's at a CL club already he's on top tier money.

Definately Ed001 we should buy players commited to the team and not seeing us as a stepping stone if we want to win silverware. I hope if we finally get Alisson to be the commited kind but unfortunately our recent South American stars left a bitter taste. Maybe that's why Klopp prefers Africans.

Is Alisson not PSG bound? I know it looked like Donnarumma was PSG’s first choice but I thought they had moved on? If they are genuinely interested then I don’t think we have any chance to compete unfortunately. I would take Trapp off PSG though.
