Mcguire is absoloute rubbish wouldn’t touch him with a twenty foot pole.

{Ed025's Note - i happen to think hes good jeme but ED01 agrees with you..

I like McGuire Jim. Big old no nonsense ball winner who can also play a bit. Think he's rarely injured too.

As someone who played as a sweeper it was always good for me to know the guy next to me would attack the ball and win it most times. I could anticipate anything I thought he might miss and cover accordingly. With VVDs pace and reading of the game I think McGuire could be exactly the right sort of player to pair him with.

{Ed001's Note - god no he is a carthorse of a player! He has absolutely no positional sense but somehow being big and quick is enough to make up for being crap in England. Decent enough on the ball, apart from the fact that he almost always gives the ball away at the end of his runs forward.}

He's like a tethered horse.

But do we agree he is a ball winner at least?

{Ed001's Note - no. He is nothing but an average lump of a player. He is in desperate need of a George Graham/Sam Allardyce/Tony Pulis type of coach to teach him the basics of defending, rather than just jumping in and hoping to win the ball.}

Ed 1, like the way u describe Maguire being good but give the ball away at the end of his run. Thought u were describing Matip. But the more accurate way to describe Matip is bring the ball oit, across half way line and then back pass.
How we miss a Hyypia.

waynechai, i thought i was the only one who noticed this trait. Coupled with his complete lack of pace, he should simply play the sweeper role and have VVD attack the ball.
