So if he cost £50 million there would be no pressure on him to perform? In a world where Kyle Walker cost £50 million I'd happily pay £80 million for Van Dijk, it's not my money anyway.

If the add ons are activated if we win the league who cares? Small price to pay!

To put things into perspective, you could ask yourself if VVD can have the same impact for LFC as Pogba's signing had for ManU? Not in terms of football skill, but impact on the team through presence, influence, providing stability in a weak position and leadership. My answer is yes. Sure, he has some positional weaknesses and concentration issues but I leave it up to Klopp to work on that (Pogba wasn't and hasn't been perfect, either) . We've seen how Klopp has made better players out of Lallana and Wijnaldum, when they're not even playing the position they've always played. So in the end, the price paid doesn't seem so outrageous, does it? We're clearly in an inflated market reaching bubble levels, and if you're a team with ambitions to win you have to pay what the market is demanding.

Unbelievable day for the club if that's true. VVD is the best CB his age in the league. Liverpool are going to be a hard team to play. Title contenders? Of course.

I think people have to stop thinking of cost/ prices which are being threw around for players bought and sold the cost/ value of players has been rising over the years and especially this season its out the window. Its a true sellers market out there now valuations are worthless as at the end of the day its the selling club who dictates what they want and obviously some clubs value players differently.

There are still bargains out there but the very best players are going for crazy money. It's not a problem if you can afford it and I guess JH can. Robertson at 8/ 9 million is a bargain, Dom solanke too. In today's market I think salah was a bargain.

After seeing Pogba going to MU for 89mil, it raised a lot of eye brows. and now Neymar to PSG for the crazy amount of money, nothing surprises me anymore. If we desperately need VVD and it'll take 80mil to get him, then that's what we have to do. Its the same that Barcelona had to pay shedloads more for Dembele and possibly for Coutinho, because they are in desperate needs for players + they have a lot to spend. Yes, there will be the weight of expectations but seriously, VVD was going to be the world's most expensive defender this summer regardless if he was signed for 60mil, 70mil or 80mil. The extra 10-20mil will only make the difference to the owners but the weight on VVD's shoulders would be equally heavy for the hefty price tag.

Is it true ed?

{Ed001's Note - as I have said all along the club had not given up on him. They are backing Klopp and that is who he wants.}

Like Mr Wolf says in Pulp Fiction.

"Let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet. "

If true though, and we've contracted VVD, it's the best STD news I've ever had.
