I've always said if you are going to sign players they have to be an upgrade on what you already have. Robertson is a decent player but after reading an article from a Hull reporter and fan who said he didn't really feel he was an upgrade on Moreno. This is not a dig at the lad but we have a history of this. No dig at Mignolet but was he an upgrade on Reina? There are other cases. I don't care about marquee signings or big fees, just making sure that we improve in the position we would like to upgrade.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are actively trying to sell Moreno but are struggling to find a buyer at the asking price. They turned down an offer that Napoli thought was reasonable recently. Unfortunately they cannot go back as Napoli moved on and have agreed the fee for the transfer of an alternative. I imagine his agent is working hard looking for a solution.}

I thought the Napoli offer was quite sensible, but dismissing it like we did was just baffling.

I like the look of Robertson if i'm honest. He's energetic and keen, technically gifted and is still young enough to improve dramatically.

If he can really focus on his defensive work then we might have a really good player on our hands.

I would have liked to go for Aaron Cresswell as I think he is about the same level as Robertson but having a senior local lad back in the team is always a bonus in my eyes. But as Eds have said we don't seem to be looking at him.

Robertson is a definite improvement on Moreno in my opinion. And if he doesn't kick on and improve then he won't be a very costly mistake, in the way that paying £40mill for Mendy could be if he didn't settle.

Good luck to the lad if we do sign him!

Real shame that Sessegnon seems out of reach. Scored 2 last night for England u-19 playing left wing. That lad is going to be the next Gareth Bale. He looked streets ahead and was 2 years younger than those around him.

Robertson is an improvement on Milner at left back, Moreno wasn't a regular. Frees up Milner to play elsewhere and cover a number of other roles.

Robertson is an improvement on Moreno, is he an improvement on Milner? Well I'm not sure about that because Milner was one of the most consistent left backs last year. Robertson, to be fair to him, has improved year on year, he's shown willingness to work on his game.

It'll almost be a luxury to play with balance next season! We were sooooo good last year I got completely carried away by October. Can't wait to see us with two super fast wingers and two capable full backs. Both left footed and right.

I would 100% back Robertson if he signed and have been proven wrong before with underwhelming signings like Steve Finnan but what value for money that turned out to be.

You lot are mad. He's bang average playing for an awful football team and that's being kind.

So what was the famous Napoli offer for Moreno? 11 mil, right? Was that all up front or was it 1 mil now, 5 mil if they win the league and another 5 if they male CL top 8? Makes a difference when judging LFCs stance on it. Does anyone actually know?

Mingnolet was not any where near as good as riena. Robertson is much better than moreno at defending. Not got the pace of moreno but a much safer player. Moreno attacks aimlessly while Robertson attacks with purpose and doesn't forget his defensive duties. He is hard as nails too. Will prove to be a solid little player and possibly become one of best lbs in the league.
