A few reliable journalists saying we are interested and want to be part of discussions if he wants to play in England.

{Ed001's Note - maybe they are not all that reliable then....}

Did arsenal actually bid that figure?

{Ed002's Note - Try the Arsenal page.}

if Mbappe is 100m plus and Dortmund are asking less for aubameyang it seems like a no brainer. I know Mbappe had a very good season but people tend to forget it's essentially his first. "If" we're signing any striker for as much money as we're rumoured to have bid surely he has to have at least a few proven seasons.

Nathan, it's the sell on value associated with Mbappe that throws his value up, Say they both join and have 3 good seasons, Mbappe value will be substantially higher yet with Augbameyang we have a 31 year old who's value will probably be less.
Obviously a big risk with Mbappe due to his age and inexperience but he looks a real talent and it's no surprise a lot of huge clubs are sniffing around.

Ah I suppose that make sense. But as you say it's a massive risk, a 100m+ risk which I can't see a lot of clubs playing with that kind of money especially Liverpool.

Huge risk i agree cobra craig. That money could be used for either lacazette or aubameyang who would offer real value for money.

If they sign mbappe and a few others suddenly Ozil and sanchez might want to stay plus mbappe would be using them as a stepping stone for a move to a big club so arsenal would make a tidy profit on him and keep their best players by showing ambition. Obviously if it doesn't work and he doesn't improve at all he's still a £40m player on this market.

Not a huge risk at all in my opinion. If you have watched a lot of Mbappe you will see that he is a once in a generation talent. The amount of money is not important in my opinion because he will alter your team for over a decade. He is ten years younger than Aub and a lot better in my opinion . yes he hasn't proved it but that's because he is 18. when you see him play it reminds me of how i felt when i first saw messi. pure natural talent that you can't put a price on.

I would have thought that keeping the ball out of our own net would be a greater priority than spending stupid money on an 18yr old. We have the firepower to score goals, but it's letting in too many that is costing us. Spend smaller on a proven striker and splash the cash on defence (we're awfully sorry Southampton. etc)
